Quote:She and Crenshaw are the same in that they are both safe.  They don't ever have to compromise, or reach across the aisle, to get re-elected.   All these congresspeople are safe.   They don't have to accomplish anything.  So nothing ever gets accomplished.

Exactly. You have to really screw up to not be reelected to Congress.

That article will take a while to go through, but thanks for it.

If it's only a Republican thing how come we don't see Democrats having to fight for reelection? You don't think they have safe seats?

Democrats toe the line so they don't get challenged from the left. Republicans toe the line so they don't get challenged from the right.

It makes a lot more sense, politically, to just sit still, don't you dare compromise.

Or you have to have your district taken out from under you by gerrymandering.

It's what the republicans did to Dennis Kucinich in Ohio heading into the 2012 election.

And thank goodness they did.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Nothing quite like silencing the will of the people through gerrymandering to get the republican base fired up.

I'm pretty sure the people still have a representative in congress.  It's just not the squeaky little pocket sized lib, Kucinich.
