Quote:Sounds like a few were listening to the whinefest on TimTim recently, it sounds.

It was a real bashfest on those who choose to be positive.  Put on the callers who would pile on, too.

Newsflash... you can be positive but realistic, disappointed, and still demanding of a better product all at the same time.

I guess some folks are just too weak to try, or too miserable and starved for company.

Looking directly at T-Wigg, the scrubs on the show when Hacker was out, and the little self pity party they threw.

Fan vs fan is bad business, but the miserable love to constantly try to cash in.
I just wish the team would give the eternal die hard fans a little more tangible results upon which to hang our hats.

Long time die hards understand it takes time to rebuild.

But it gets wearisome explaining it to the casual fan.  All they know is the Jaguars aren't very good.  Some of them think getting new players is the same as McDonald's putting out feelers for new fry cooks.  It's not the same.

It gets wearisome going to a game suspecting you have zero shot, and by the end of the first half, you get confirmation.

TBH, the first half of the Giants win was about as ugly a display of football as you'd see.  While the end result was quite satisfying, enduring the first half was not.
Quote:You realize this is from the Thursday night game against the tacks right? A game in which we won BTW. But don't let that get in the way of the agenda being pushed.
Who cares.  I expect them to win 8 games this year, or I think Bradley should be fired.  He needs to make that leap to being a consistent competitive team.  I still don't understand how you finish worse than your previous year in a rebuilding process.  Blows my freaking mind.

this was after a that three centimeter run by slowby. Season long.

HAHAHA.

I think Slowby is going to be cut, unless they keep him at FB.

Beyond a certain floor, I don't think it's as much about wins and losses this year as it is about being competitive to the end of the game. I could see Bradley surviving 6-10, maybe worse, if the team is losing those games by a few points and staying in it for all four quarters. Likewise, I could see him being let go at 7-9 if we get blown out eight times (though that's a less likely scenario). Ownership slapping a set "win this many games or else" ultimatum on a coach backfires pretty easily.
Hope' Is The Thing With Feathers - Poem by Emily Dickinson

'Hope' is the thing with feathers—

That perches in the soul—

And sings the tune without the words—

And never stops—at all—

And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—

And sore must be the storm—

That could abash the little Bird

That kept so many warm—

I've heard it in the chillest land—

And on the strangest Sea—

Yet, never, in Extremity,

It asked a crumb—of Me.

I have no idea what this means, but I thought that it was appropriate for this thread.

How in the world did this poem end up here and what the heck does it mean?

"Hope is the thing with feathers"-- What does that even mean?

Jaguars don't have feathers.

Maybe I just never understood poetry.
Quote:This is hilarious.  Bradley in a nutshell.  "We're getting our butts kicked, but this is awesome being here, right?"

He should fuss and kick things. That will make the talent suddenly go up.

If only he punched the podium and got all mad like Bill O'Brien. That would be elite.

This is the epitome of being a Fan: Hope is the thing that has no structure, but no end either. It seems the most fragile, but never dies. It's the thing that gives the most, but never asks for anything.

Very beautiful.

Mularkey pump-faking and then throwing the clipboard was the loudest applause I heard that entire season at Everbank Field.

I would be celebrating too if I had only 7 wins in two seasons and my job was secure.

Just saying... but i do like Gus .. i mean if nothing else his personality and love for the sport.
I loved Coughlin. But remember, the fans pretty much got him fired. I think Bradley can and will get the job done.

He got himself fired by wearing too many hats (GM,OC,HC) and being unreasonable with ownership about change.  Weaver bending to the fans (if he even did) would have merely been the "last straw."

Weaver has said that he didn't ask Coughlin to give up the GM title as a condition of keeping his job. He just asked him to resign/fired him. I agree Coughlin was wearing too many hats towards the end, but to say he was unreasonable about change would be based on the false assumption that change was offered to him.

Never saw that printed anywhere.  But -  Based on all the times-union articles during the last few years of Coughlin's tenure - it seemed clear to me that there was a rift between he and Weaver and Coughlin was trying to run too much of a dictatorship.  That's my opinion on the matter based on being a frustrated fan at the time and following the situation.

I'm sure a classy Weaver isn't going to disparage Coughlin's behavior publicly at this point  -- and I believe TC did himself in by taking too much control.  Whether he was offered the chance to scale it back -- I admittedly don't know.

The greater point is this:  I do not think that he was fired because of fan sentiment. I believe he brought it on himself.
