Meh. I don't think they'll ever win anything out there in Oakland or Vegas or LA or wherever the hell else they'll be playing next year.
The NFL is starting to suck with all this relocation crap.

It actually looks like the relocation might not happen. I don't think Davis can afford the fees and the stadium. He should work with Oakland, its a bad area, but its getting gentrified and will be a better place to be marketwise in 20 years IMO.

San Diego seems to be making a behind the scenes push for the Raiders. It's anyone's guess how this will all play out.
While the Raiders remain in limbo, having stability and winning experience at the HC position, as JDR provides, is a good thing for them.

That makes no sense. Why would San Diego want the Raiders, but not its own team that had been playing there 56 years? I would be shocked if local Chargers fans were willing to support such a move.
On topic, the most important thing for Oakland is stability at not only HC but also many player positions. It starts at the top. JDR was one of my COTY picks before Derek Carr got hurt and that play alone was what ruined Oakland's chances of winning the AFC West title.

Many people, including business leaders, were/are very turned off by Chargers owner Dean Spanos. Many of these same people look at Raiders owner Mark Davis much more favorably. Private investment funds in San Diego which at least one major investor refused to put into the mix with Spanos could be in pay with Davis.
There are many San Diego NFL fans that want nothing to do with Spanos and the Los Angeles Chargers that would gladly support the San Diego Raiders. That much more considering their contempt for Spanos and wanting him to fail in LA. On top of this, the Raiders have the largest NFL fan base in Southern California. When the Chargers hosted the Raiders in San Diego back in December, 85 % of the fans were Raiders fans.
The Raiders have done a very good job in putting talent in place under GM Reggie McKenzie. They have a long term advantage at QB that the other teams in the AFC West can't currently match.

They were turned off by Dean Spanos because of his threat to move the team unless thousands of travelers pay a higher hotel room tax. I don't blame them one bit. Now they get a lot of Raiders fans because of their move to Los Angeles, which can only increase home field disadvantage at that annual game.
NFL.com analyst Adam Schein officially voted for Derek Carr over Matt Ryan because the V is for value. He knows the whole team is better with #4 and can't win without him.

One major reason why a large number of people remain turned off by Dean Spanos is their perception that he rarely communicated with the public.
In reality, the Falcons season would have ended in their first playoff game as well if they would have lost Matt Ryan.

Adam Schein is a bandwagon Falcons fan. He thinks they have a much better defense than the Raiders.

I respect his opinion. But I don't think the Falcons would have been able to compensate for the loss of Matt Ryan against a team with a much better QB than the Atlanta Falcons would have been using. Seattle very likely would have advanced to the NFC Championship game if everything else remained the same.

This is the same guy who wrote, "Not liking Matt Ryan is like not liking pizza." LOL. There is no way the Falcons could be a Super Bowl team without him, but we will never know what they would have done with a backup QB.

The Falcons were fortunate that they Matt Schaub wasn't needed in a meaningful game situation this season.

For sure, but if the Raiders still had Matt Schaub they would have been a little better in Week 17 and the playoffs.

He has been in the NFL much longer than Matt McGloin and Connor Cook combined.

Back to JDR, does anybody think this will make the Raiders better short term?

Jdr is one heck of a coach. And would of done much more here. Had he had better players to work with.
And is showing how good he can be. Now that has really good players to work with.
And not a bunch of average if that ones.
He had us to the Championship game with many sub par players.
They woukd of given m9st a run for their money had Carr not been injured.
