Fowler is out due to injury, Clemons is MIA.

It only makes sense we take a peek.

Dismissed from Illinois for team rules, would have competed for LEO role there.

Supplemental draft update! W. Ga. DE/OLB Darrius Caldwell, an Illinois transfer, is applying this year. 69 Ts, 18.5 TFLs, 12 sacks in 2014

Personally, I am OK seeing this team roll this year with Clemons, Branch, Davis, and Smith. With Fowler coming back next year, I don't want to see future draft picks being used in this spot.

I would be fine with a 7th

If Caldwell, Dave that is, has kept up with TMDs mantra that names matter, he may fall in love and dish out a first.

Only way that happens is Gene Smith performs a face/off procedure on Caldwell and takes over.

Yep, may be worth a late rounder if he's seen as a fit.

Certainly a position in need of investment for the future.

Eh, worth a look, maybe a late-round flyer. I don't see the team throwing a mid-round pick at the LEO position as a desperation play right after losing Fowler for the year. There's enough talent on this team that a move like that would be unnecessary.

Something tells me that this guy goes undrafted and will be available in free agency.

No players were selected in each of the past two Supplemental Drafts but Caldwell could draw interest after dominating the Gulf South Conference last season - his first at that level - to the tune of 18.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.



Caldwell, an Atlanta, Ga. native, originally signed with Illinois as a four star recruit. After redshirting in 2011, he played in all 12 games a year later, recording 17 tackles, including five for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble.



Academic issues forced him out of the Big Ten in 2013, however, and Caldwell landed at Pearl City Community College, where despite only posting 12 tackles and four tackles for loss, he earned an offer from Arizona State and was hyped as a possible replacement at Devil-backer for Carl Bradford, a 2014 fourth round pick of the Green Bay Packers. Academics once again pushed Caldwell out, however, and he ultimately wound up at West Georgia, where he recorded 69 total tackles and led the conference in sacks.

Although getting kicked out of 3 schools is isn't a guarantee of a character issue, it sure is a giant red flag.

When a scholarship player gets kicked out of school for academic reasons, it's usually because they lack the self discipline and work ethic to even bother to show up to class for the bare minimum requirement.

Players don't have to be smart enough to pass. As long as they show up, the school will fake it for them.

There is a huge question mark as to where this kid's priorities lie. I doubt anyone spends a pick on him.

Just wanted to point out the author of that article, is a newcomer to Jacksonville. Mike Kaye wrote for an Eagles website and was their resident draft expert. A good follow on Twitter for anyone that is not already. I am interested to see how the FCN coverage of the Jaguars improves with him onboard. Since Hicken left the operation, I barely pay attention to the station.
