It is obvious our top needs in the draft are in front of and behind the QB. We spun a revolving door at LG all year and certainly will lose at least one player (maybe two) who played at that position. RT also needs a major upgrade. Now the question is when in the draft should we pick players who are actually good run blockers and keep QBs on their feet? Knowing we are fine at LT, Cam Robinson's position, we have to think about who would be a good pick on the second or third day. Which round would you pick an OL in? Who would you target to fix our run blocking and protect Blake Bortles?
I think there will be a good guard or two available at our 2nd round pick, but the tackles this year arent very good.
FA will have any of Kevin Zeitler, Larry Warford, TJ Lang, Ronald Leary, Rick Wagner, and Andrew Norwell.
Id like to skip lang altogether since hes 30 already, but otherwise you cant go wrong with any of them. I think Rick makes the most sense because the lack of tackles though.
I'd try to help out the O-Line via FA. Zeitler, Warford and Leary are my favorites. It's just a really bad year for OT's both FA and draft so I'm not sure the team can find an upgrade this year.
Dan Feeney would be an excellent pick but he'll never make it out of the 1st.
Pat Elflein would be a good pick in the 3rd imo
I still think the Bengals keep Zeitler. Just makes absolutely zero sense for a team with plenty of cap space to let a guy they drafted in the 1st round not long ago walk after developing him into an elite player. And Norwell is an RFA so he won't be available this year.
I'd say our best options are Warford, Leary, or Tretter at C and move Linder back to guard. I have also been leading the Feeney bandwagon but he's gonna be this years Ryan Kelly. If he or Lamp is there at 36 it would be real hard to convince me someone else would be better to take in the 2nd though.
Nick Siraguso is gonna be good

I'm a big fan of Siragusa. He makes a lot of sense, since I believe Feeney, Lamp and Elflein will all be gone by #36. I believe he, Ethan Pocic, Dion Dawkins (measured much shorter than what it would take to play NFL OT) and Dorian Johnson will be the guys we will most likely be targeting in that 2nd or 3rd round range.

Yeah if Lamp or Moton arn't there in the 2nd I'd wait and draft him in the 3rd.
I don't know if the coaches would want to mess with moving Brandon Linder back to guard. If we draft Pat Elflein at 35, do we move him or Linder to guard?
Depending on what they are able to get done in free agency, a guard in the 2nd or 3rd round makes a lot of sense.

I've been a big fan of Moton, but I just don't see the front office placing a high priority on the RT position. I believe it will be addressed, just not until later in the draft and not in free agency. I would love for it to be addressed early, but I just don't think it will happen.

Why would the front office
not make RT a high priority after seeing how bad the position was last year?
I think OLinemen could be harder to pick up than we think in Free Agency, just as edge rushers were hard for us to pick up last year.
Yes, there will be some available, but some of the better ones will be re-signed by their current teams and there are quite a few teams in need of an Oline upgrade this year, so competition could be fierce.
Having said that, one good player might be all we need.

While this may prove to be true, I feel like there are at least four free agent guards that will probably hit the market that could upgrade our LG position.
And the Jags will certainly have the cap space to make a competitive offer to the one(s) they prefer.

Do you have any specific left guards in mind?
I read the Jaguars rank #7 in the NFL for cap space.

Zeitler, Leary, Warford, Lang, and two young lesser-known guys with upside Norwell (panthers) and Winters (jets).
I also hope they keep Omameh as depth. I thought he looked good at LG before he was hurt.
And as I mentioned earlier in the thread I think drafting an O-Lineman in the 2nd or 3rd round is a good idea as well if the right guy is there.

T.J. Lang has played RG his entire career. He does not move when other linemen get hurt. If we were looking for a RG I would not hesitate to go after him.
Take Norwell off that list cause he's an RFA and replace him with JC Tretter at C and moving Linder back to guard, and that should be our FA IOL target list.
RT on the other hand is looking really rough. The only two real options might be Wagner or Moton...really poor FA and draft classes for tackle.

Thanks.
Didn't realize he was restricted.

All this talk about moving Brandon Linder back to guard is wishful thinking. He was our best OL at center last year. If it is not broke, don't fix it. That said, if we do it, I will not be mad at Tom Coughlin.

Linder is the best lineman the Jags got. He can also play multiple positions along the line and still maintain a high level of play. The don't fix it if it ain't broke line doesn't apply because the unit as a whole is broken so it doesn't matter whether Linder stays at C or not - he will be balling regardless of position.
