Quote:Other than playing 8 more games and making 70+ tackles over the past 2 years, yeah they're the same player. I mean c'mon Cyp hasn't been great but he's been OK.

he hasn't been OK.  He's been a liability.

I like how you didn't mention that Swearinger had 3 INTs and also more forced fumbles, aka big plays, than Cyp.

Stats don't always tell the entire story. Gratz has more interceptions and sacks than McCray and Colvin combined. Is he the best CB on our team?

Bucs claim D.J. Swearinger, Khaseem Greene off waivers
@knarnn

no, stats don't tell the whole story - I was just responding to a person who used stats as a reason as to why Cyprien is a more superior player.

I think Cyp and Swearinger are roughly similar in efficacy.

My Bucs fan buddy is telling me

"He's a hard hitting safety! Perfect for Lovie"

Bucs claim D.J. Swearinger, Khaseem Greene off waivers

When Greene was at Rutgers, I thought he looked like a guy who had a chance to be a good linebacker in the NFL. He was bad in Chicago. I wonder if a change of scenery can help him.
Looks like the Jags were one of eight teams to put in a waiver claim for him:

ESPN's Field Yates reports eight teams put in a claim for SS D.J. Swearinger before he was awarded to the Bucs.

Including the Bucs, the Jaguars, Raiders, Jets, Falcons, Bills, Steelers, and Ravens all placed claims. This obviously means little now that Swearinger has landed in Tampa Bay, but it's noteworthy should Swearinger not stick with the Bucs. He doesn't really fit the scheme and could end up back on the streets if he doesn't up his play and learn to adhere to Lovie Smith's Cover-2 system.

Glad we dodged that bullet.

I was wrong about Swearinger.  I wanted him here out of South Carolina.
No harm in putting in a claim on a guy who was a second rounder two years ago.
