Clemons is not still a beast. I was incredibly excited about his signing hoping he had fully recovered from his injury, but he is old now. Our best bet is to hope that Branch has improved. Hell, everyone was hyped about Fowler, Branch had virtually identical measurables and hes had more experience. We still have the starters we would have had anyway. Fowler would have been a rotation guy on heavy passing downs this year. Not a huge loss. Honestly him and the WR are the least important of the first 5 picks.

PERSPECTIVE:

CHRIS CLEMONS

Good to see fowler already trying to follow in his mentor's footsteps.
Fowler going down isn't the end of the world. A bunch of unenlightened fans will think it is but a rookie DE isn't going to change the W/L column. Where we'll look to be better is on offense and putting up more than 10-13 points per game. We have guys that can sack the QB already. Sure would have been nice to see him out there, but he can still learn the system and get some good film time in while he's injured and have a better understanding going into next year when we should be a contending team.

Clemons

Branch

Davis
I really think someone behind Clemons will emerge.  Drafting Fowler was the equivalent of a Navy vessel shot over the bow of another vessel for Branch, Davis, and Smith.

We got sacks but not nearly enough hurries, pressures or knock downs. I like Clemons in a secondary role, which is the role he would have had if not for yesterday. Let's hope Ryan Davis continues his ascension, Branch stays healthy and kicks it into gear, and Chris Smith takes advantage of his opportunity. If there is any silver lining at all, it's that those young guys will surely get more chances. Maybe a gem emerges. Trying to stay positive, as hard as it is.

Quote:Heck if he could have taught him that spin move alone, that would have been great for Fowler.

Ya, because Fowler will never be healed to learn the move before Clemons departs...and Clemons is the only one with that move, and ya, it can't be practiced based on visuals and technique.

To the OP, beast you say? As beastly as say Bradley in coaching?

Don't forget Odrick should provide more pass rush ability than Red did too.
And the 'biggest steal in global history of robbery', Michael Bennett, will rush too. Pressure will be applied. Let's pray for consistency, and Marks' return, without much setback.
