The RB position should be very interesting to watch. Toby Gerhart has ALWAYS aspired to be a featured back. He got his wish last season but unfortunately got hurt and never really fully recovered and consequently lost it. When he did come back he only had moments of why the JAGS signed him in the first place. I just don't think his ego and his will to be thee one out there come opening day, will allow him anything other than being "thee one" out there opening day. If he is not and it's because of competition rather than another injury.............I think he wil get traded somewhere else. For him, it's time to put up the numbers and quiet his critics. And, there have been MANY of those so that equation intrigues me the most going into camp.
OL
Safety
RB
TE
WR
In that order
James Samples vs Sergio Brown FS
AJ Cann vs Zane Beadles LG
TJ Yeldon vs D-Rob
Quote:the safety battle
I don't know that there will be a safety battle. Caldwell hasn't strayed from his "Sergio Brown will start the year" stance at all that I've seen.

He's the penciled in starter. But if Sample just flat out plays him in camp, he'll start.
I wouldn't call it a position battle as much as a unit battle to determine who will be part of the starting 5 on the OL. A couple of spots are a lock, but the rest are up for grabs.

Are you saying there are 2 spots up for grabs?
LT- Luke
RG- Cann/Beadles/Wiz
C- Wiz/Bowanko
RG- Linder
RT - Parnell
Thats the way I see it.
I'm also very curious with the WRs. Robinson/Lee/Hurns/Greene... Very young group
I'm assuming if they go with 8 OLinemen it would be Joeckel, Beadles, Wiz, Linder, Parnell, Cann, Bowanko, and Pasztor.

Parnell SHOULD win the starting gig at RT, but I still see that as an open competition because there's every opportunity for Pasztor to win/retain the job.
I think the center and left guard positions are also pretty much open competitions with the best man winning the gig.
I'm not as concerned about the receivers. It's a young group, but arguably coached by one of the best position coaches in the business. Whether they get a veteran receiver to add to the group or not, they'll be fine.
FS battle
LG

CB
5th WR spot
There are going to be some intriguing battles to watch....
Yeldon vs. DRob ...I don't think Shoelace is going to go easily.
Morris vs. Waters ...#3 QB will be interesting.
Doss vs. Benn vs. Sanders vs. Copeland ...rumble in the jungle for last spot.
Cann vs. Beadles ...loser becomes quality depth/rotation guy.
Wis vs. Bowanko ...Luke will feel the force to his detriment.
Pasztor vs. Williams ...If Brennan is healed, he can push Pasztor off the roster (not needed at guard now).
Bennett vs. Hood ...probably keep them both, but good battle for primary rotation spot.
Davis vs. Smith ...last year draft pick (Smith) fight for a last Leo spot on roster.
Fortt vs. Reynolds ...good brawl for backup to Skuta.
Brown vs. Sample ...for free safety starting gig.
Reynolds vs. Harris ....for last CB spot.
