On top of that, no labrum problems that I'm aware of.
Yeah...aren't...oops. The only injury I heard of was the groin injury during the Senior bowl, but that was pretty minor and not long term.

Agreed and he should have had plenty of time to rest and let the groin heal up this offseason.
This is great.   I sorted our picks by team, and look at the player ratings.   Bennett is the highest rated player we've picked except for Dante Fowler!

Sweet deal! Guess I will still be a Jags fan after all !!
Man. Dave Caldwell is the anti Gene Smith. I hope we keep Dave even if we let Gus go. The patience Caldwell shows in picking up value rather than reaching for players he personally likes (gene) is refreshing. The man just doesn't blink if there's no value to a pick.
Very disappointed.  With what we've done in FA and the draft, we may not be drafting in the top 5 next year.  After so many years, what will it be like drafting in the teens?

Probably my favorite pick of the draft. Dave has been killing this draft.

Yeah if Gus gets termed after this season Caldwell should be more than safe.

Let's hope we find out.  i suspect Dave will simply let the talent fall to him, like many successful teams do.  Like the Steelers getting Bud Dupree at #22,
This is the kind of pick that separates Dave and Gene by a lot.

If Gene liked Bennett, he'd have probably taken him much earlier.  The third of fourth round, maybe even the second.  Caldwell gets him in the 6th.  Very good choice

It'd be the dumbest thing we could do.

Guys like Fowler, Bennett, Cyp, etc. etc. are all about the fit here. Why would we can a guy who we're just starting to bring in talent for? I get we can't be seeing 2-3 wins again, but he has a long leash yet. The guy had zero talent his first year and this last year he had Henne for a few games and a rookie raw QB coming into the year.

People really need to calm it with Gus. He had the hardest coaching job in the entire league and we completely revamped everything. I get we need results soon, but let him work his way with this talent and let's see Bortles develop.

As for Bennett falling, its due to his size and scheme fit. He wasn't a great scheme fit for a lot of teams from what I heard, but as someone posted earlier about him being a great fit in Seattle, he fits equally great here as he just said in that phone interview. He doesn't fit a lot of other schemes nearly as well from what I've read.
i finally think this team is deep enough and talented enough to compete.

The most critical position (QB) is very young and was bad his first year, so we will go as far as Blake goes.

I like the pick you got an injured Marks & Miller needed Depth at the position and challenge the starters to start.

A lot of that had to do with a very poor Oline and the OC.

Pending on how these guys end up, I'd agree.

It all depends on Bortles though. We go as far as he takes us. I expect another year or two before we're really at that wildcard/AFC South title spot. I think a lot of these guys are still a bit young to take that huge jump. 5-7 wins I think is a good and reasonable expectation for this season. 8-9 is possible pending on OLine and Bortles.
Walter Football also graded this pick an A+.  Below are their comments:

"This is one of the best third-day picks in the 2015 NFL Draft. Michael Bennett could have easily gone in the second or third round, but thanks to some minor injury concerns, Jacksonville is getting a steal at No. 180 overall. Bennett is definitely going to help the Jaguars apply more pressure on the quarterback."

I love what this pick signifies. The roster actually has, arguably, a surplus of guys on the D-Line. You see teams like the Packers constantly losing players in FA, only to plug in a player they drafted in the mid to late rounds a year or two prior. They land a couple high compensatory picks, the young guy turns into a good player, and the wheel keeps turning. A year or two down the road, we may be able to say the same thing.

I think this is the best Jaguars draft I've seen in years....maybe best in their history

Quote:I still don't understand how he fell to the 6th round. What's hidden from the public that the teams knew about or were worried about? Assuming all is well, he is an incredible value, and Ziggy now has direct competition for his role.

On NFL Sirius network at the time of the pick, they said something medical may be an issue. They didn't know for sure but praised the pick pretty hard.
