The Titan's draft looks very poor at the moment. Never been much of a Mariota fan, but he looks like their best pick.

Quote:I'm higher on Mariota than most people. I think he's very accurate and smart. He's in a good spot in that he can sit behind Meatybooger for a while, and then Whisenhunt can pull him out of the bag mid-season when his job is on the line. If he flashes, it saves Whisenhunt's job.
Quote:Whisenhunt said the team already has done work on offensive revisions that will suit Mariota, who the Titans expect will be their Day 1 starter, displacing last year's sixth-round pick, Zach Mettenberger. The coach said the plan was to push Mariota while "incorporating what he does well."

Still think he's in a good spot?

there are definitely rumors out there that the titans were offered a haul, but the titans wound up liking mariota too much to take it.
a franchise qb can never be coveted enough.
will mariota pan out? who knows....but hes got as good of a shot as a lot of guys that are taken that high.

Bradford sucks and it was for what the 20th pick this year? Most likely the Eagles have a moderately decent year and the Titans would have gotten 20-32 again.
You don't give away what you might think could be a franchise qb.

Stock pile a bunch of picks for a running qb? That was my fear... thank goodness the tacks are not as wise an organization as the rams

I think foles can lead them to the playoffs behind the nasty defense they have. I know people hate him but I think fisher is a really good coach. If gurley stays healthy, that's a pretty complete team.
On the other hand, the titans had more of a mediocre off season and draft. If mariota turns out really good then I would give them an A as opposed to right now I give them a C. They will be floating around below average team for a while and they seem to be wasting mett too.
While at it, I hate the colts draft. I don't think they made their team that much better. They had a pretty decent off season if Gore's legs don't fall off. Overall off season rating for them I'd give a B- (only because Andre Johnson and gore, assuming he makes it the year should really help their offense for at least another year while they're in win now mode.)
And the Texans, they didn't do anything crazy but they should have clowney back. Is he going to start to show what the hype is about finally? If he does with the additions they made to overall strengthen the roster, grabbing strong late on day 2 was a nice pick up, bolstered the backers, and adding Kevin Johnson to the secondary put together an overall pretty decent draft. Solid all around. But who is playing QB? Mallett still? Idk about that... C+

The rams offensive line is a joke in a division that has annually had some of the best D lines in the NFL. They didn't do much to upgrade it either, although the NFC-W has weakened a bit this year it seems.

Jordan Babineaux says the Titans had the best draft in the division on NFLN this morning. Of course he is a complete homer and also referenced how Dante Fowler will compliment Red Bryant (who was cut some time ago) on the D line when grading the Jags. Personally, I feel Tennessee is boom or bust with this draft. Mariota is working behind an O line that was not stellar. I am not as high on DGB as others and nobody else they drafted jumps out at me. Babineaux lost the little credibility he had with me in this myopic segment. (I'm sure he is so heartbroken)

same here. im not a huge fan of how raw he is and how unwilling to take coaching he seems. on top of that, the character red flags set my expectations pretty low.

For all you guys wondering why Watt went 11, here is some great Texan Fan reactions on the pick from 2011

Quote:Why would anybody think Mariota is a risk? He does not carry any red flags and was expected to be the second overall pick for months.
Why would he be considered a risk? ANY QB taken that high is going to have that label attached to them. I'm not sure where you see he was expected to be the 2nd overall pick for months. There was speculation from "experts" predicting he'd be there at 3 when the Jags were on the clock giving us a golden opportunity to trade out of that pick.
He's not a pro style QB, so transitioning to the NFL and the learning curve that comes with that represent a significant risk. If you don't see that, you really need to evaluate your football expertise.

Quote: Do you mean Gabbert bad?No pick is worse than Jamarcus Russell. Sorry. That to me is epic.
Epic bust is a strong prediction.
Mariota will atleast work his tail off to try and get better.

They had a huge boom or bust draft. hopefully for the Jags sake its a bust

Or maybe because Bradford hasn't exactly looked the part of a franchise QB when he was out there?

Both picks by the Titans are going to being awesome picks when we look back in 5 years

I think the OP was refering to the off field problems with the 2nd and with Mariota not being a perfect fit with the offense.
