Just like last year when Mayock walked into Dave's office and he had pictures of Manziel hanging up everywhere.

First I've heard of that.  Is a smokescreen a smokescreen even if it's completely made up?

Kinda funny to see this from people and they claim our regime is so transparent and outright...yet the media praise Caldwell cause no one knows what is ever going on!

What he missed was the meeting:


Dave: Alright scouts!  Today we're going to talk about the guy who we're not going to draft.  Even if he's released.  *Puts up pictures of Johnny Manziel*  This guy, isn't going to be good.  He's not who we're going to draft.  He's terrible.  Awful.  Forget his character, he can't play football!  I'd be willing to bet he won't throw 100 yards in a game all year. He'll not throw a single touchdown, and probably at least two interceptions.  I doubt he'll even get 20 rushing yards.  So I'm leaving these pictures up here as a reminder of who we're NOT going to draft under any circumstances.  Understood?  Good.  Now I've got a meeting with Mike Mayock so you'll have to excuse me.

There's a huge difference between not tipping your hand, and use of deception.

Of course it was a joke on Gus and Dave's part. Just because it's a joke doesn't not make it a smokescreen considering no one really knows for sure. Hell, that's what would make it funny to them. Right? The people who believe it. IE, the tweeter in the OP's post.

 

If an NFL reporter tweeted a month before the draft they had his pics up everyone and their brother would be discussing how they think he's our pick. Meanwhile, they're just laughing about it. Some smokescreens are just fun and games by the guys in charge to see who bites.

Except he never said that.  He said Manziel is the most ready to start since his game really won't change from year 1 to year 2.  Him not changing his playing style does not equal him being pro ready.
