Everyone who has driven downtown for anything knows this building, especially i they've traveled over the Main Street Bridge heading into town.  It's an old insurance company office and bank that has been closed for years.  The windows were boarded up and painted with a prowling Jaguar.  The current owners were actually looking to demolish the place because the roof had partially collapsed.  It's going to cost a small fortune to bring the building back to life, but this is worth the investment.

In a sign that downtown is starting to look for ways to bring people back into the city, this building is hoping for a renaissance.  More venues downtown is always a good thing.

Awesome, can't wait to try it.

This has been in the works for awhile. Hopefully they utilize the space in a way that makes the restaurant sustainable.
I hope they can make it work but I have my doubts. What downtown needs for something like this to work is more residential occupancy! It would be rare for people to travel from the beaches, or Orange Park, or Fernandina, or west side to downtown for a dinner. IF there were more venues downtown to make downtown a destination place it would work but with the experience of massive turnover of restaurants in the Landing it seems a longshot to me, especially when you consider the investment of $6 million.

I think "a leap of faith" is pretty accurate.
