Quote:As I haven't done a 7 round pick projection in ages, and as the draft is a few days away, I'll take a swing...
1. DL Leonard "Big Cat" Williams 6'5 302- highest rated non-QB in the draft. Position and scheme diverse. Future consistent pro bowler.
2. WR Phillip Dorsett 5'10 182- elite sub 4.3 speed, absolute mismatch for NBs and safeties, potential star from the slot.
3. RB Ameer Abdullah 5'9 205- incredible character and some analysts think within top 3-4 RBs in the draft.
4. S Jaquiski Tartt 6'1 218- small school player with good skills, developmental upside and STer.
5. HB/FB Nick O'Leary 6'3 238- good pass protector, reliable hands, competitor, becomes FB/H-back for Jags.
6. DB Nick Marshall 6'1 220- conversion prospect from QB to CB or FS, worth a late round gamble.
7. WR DeAndre Smelter 6'2 226- big physical athlete, coming off torn ACL that makes 2015 questionable.
Dorsett is too one dimensional to take at 36. Abdullah isn't the type of RB were looking for, I think the Jags brass has made it clear that they want a workhorse. Tartt plays the same position as Cyp, so that wouldn't really make sense.
Agree with you on Tartt. Don't agree with you that Dorsett is one dimensional; I have watched many Hurricane games.
Dorsett was so under-utilized at Miami those coaches should be thrown in jail.
Tartt is SS only though...
My Boom-Bust Mock Draft
Round 1-Kevin White-WVU-WR-AROB-Thomas-White-Lee-Hurns that a good set of pass catchers. The risky pick compared to Cooper but also has more upside than Cooper. Needs to work on his route running but is a athletic freak with good hands
Round 2-Damarious Randall-ASU-S- Best play maker at the safety position in the draft and even though he is on the smaller side he is good in coverage and a pretty good tackler.
Round 3-Michael Bennet-OSU-DT-A pass rushing DT who would fill in for Marks to start the year. Has a really good burst and is projected to go in Round 2 but could fall. Overshadowed by Bosa at OSU
Round 4-Ifo Ekpre-Olumu-UO-CB-Was a stud before he tore his ACL and would add to the depth at CB and because its a passing league thats huge. Much like Colvin he tore his ACL and thus we could get him in the later rounds while he still could be a beast.
Round 5-Karlos Williams-FSU-RB-Guy has only played RB full time for 3 years and he is BIG. Runs upright but can catch the ball out of the backfield,is a horse, can pass block, and fits a zone run scheme. Only problem is Character concern maybe another Telvin Smith?
Round 6-Deandre Smleter-GT-WR-Easily GT best WR since D.Thomas has good speed and shake. Has good hands but needs to work on his route running plus he has a torn ACL
