I don't like outside of the top 8 or so. Which got me thinking, why be at 12 when 19 isn't that much worse. Give me the extra picks instead.

3 first round picks should be expected. The RG3 trade pretty much solidified that. They took less of a drop, and got 3 1sts and a 2nd.


You're giving a team a what they believe is a franchise QB, if you're willing to take only 2 first round picks for a QB that will change their franchise and be with their team the next 10-15 years, I'm sorry, but you got skunked.


Taking only two 1st rounders would be trading down just to trade down.


Caldwell himself said the trade would have to be substantial. Two 1st rounders is a low ball offer, and would seriously have the Brown's FO laughing in your face.


Think about it. If you were able to get a QB you thought was going to be the face of your franchise for the next decade and a half, and the team you're trading with only asked for two 1st rounders, how fast would you make that trade?


If you only make out with 2 first rounders, you're an idiot.

Yeah no thanks to the two first a rounders. 3 firsts plus extras or they can keep their picks and potentially miss out on their guy.


If you want a franchise QB pay the price.

They can be. But realistically the historical sweet spot for "star" RBs has been the 2nd round.

NJ.com's Mark Eckel passes along a "rumor making its rounds in NFL personnel meetings" of the Eagles trading Sam Bradford to the Browns for the No. 19 overall pick in the draft.


The Browns already offered No. 19 to the Rams for Bradford, prior to his trade to Philadelphia. St. Louis didn't accept because it wanted a quarterback, and wound up acquiring Nick Foles. The Browns are "still said to have interest" in Bradford. Per Eckel, the rumor has the Eagles then sending Nos. 19 and 20 -- plus Mychal Kendricks and Fletcher Cox -- to the Titans in exchange for No. 2 overall, where Philly would select Marcus Mariota. Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reported Friday that Bradford currently believes the Eagles may be planning to trade him.

Bradford to the Eagles was nothing but adding a piece to trade. He doesn't fit the team at all. No way he's an Eagle this year let alone the starting QB for them.

I can agree with this. With Oakland at #4, the Browns might expect the Raiders to throw in a fourth... for the Jaguars at #3 it's the Browns who should be throwing in a fourth... but you're probably right that the Browns are probably thinking about their two picks straight up for either the #3 or #4 pick.

If we are going to trade with the Browns for only 2 1st round picks, I would only take the #12 pick and next year's first round. The Browns are a mess; we are looking at a potential Top 5-7 pick vs the #19 pick this year. I would be willing to take the gamble.

 

With that said, I would need more than 2 1st rounders to think about making that deal. 

I think the Browns would need to offer 3 firsts and probably a third or Gipson to make the trade. I can't see them taking another risk on a duel threat QB though
