Derrick Harvey junior year in college: 49 tackles 17.5 for a loss 8.5 sacks..

Dante Fowler  junior year in college: 60 tackles 15.0 for a loss 8.5 sacks..

I would rather go with Cooper or Beasley..

Every time I got sick I was breathing air. I think it's air that gets us sick.
So much for my Dante Fowler Jr. Jags selection in the MB Mock Draft.  :teehee:

Beasley is too similar to gholston. HHere's the proof, both play DE.
And here I opened this thread thinking you were going to have some hard hitting evidence explaining your reasoning. Waste of a click.

JJ Watt junior year in college: 44 tackles 15.5 for loss 4.5 sacks

Tyson Alualu junior year in college: 62 tackles 11.0 for loss 6.0 sacks

Watt can't hold Alualu's jock strap based on those numbers.

So, this belongs on ESPN.

LOL come on man

So how many pressures did Harvey have? Because I think Dante Fowler had around 37... Lead the SEC. Harvey couldn't play anything but DE, exclusively. Fowler played DE, DT, OLB, the buck. Fowler can drop into coverage, Harvey cannot. Numbers don't make the narrative. If Fowler fails, it won't be because of his work ethic or lack of talent. I honestly can't believe this is a thing. I've shifted mu favorite pick at 3 to Leonard Williams but don't try and justify your want for another player by knocking Fowler.
Do you even try anymore?
AND THAT IS A SCIENTIFIC FACT!
lol
Why is this guy even allowed to start threads?

The big difference is passion, and desire to play at the next level. Fowler is 100% all about it. Harvey was never excited at any point. Teams got infatuated with his measureables and that is all it took. He got paid and that was that.
Blaine Gabbert: 4.61 40 yard dash, 61% completion rate, 40 TDs, 18 Ints

Tom Brady:  5.28 40 yard dash, 62% completion rate, 35 TDs, 19 Ints

...stats are everything.

I agree that they difference is passion...Fowler seems to have a relentless motor and never seems to give up on the play from the little I have seen him play...the thing that scares me away from him is I never remember hearing or seeing him be truly dominate at the college level.  You never really heard, or at least I didn't and I hang out with a lot of Florida fans, of him just taking over a game at DE position.

According to CFBstats he had 17 QB hurries...a far cry from the 37 another poster stated. Of his 8.5 sacks...3 of them came against East Carolina in the Birmingham bowl.  One could argue I guess that he was dominating lesser talent but I am not sure since he was held sackless against other teams like Eastern Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and only had one sack and 6 tackles against Kentucky in a game that had 3 OTs.

I know I am only focusing on the sacks there but sacks...but his tackle total is not great either...he had 60 but 11 of them  came in the game against LSU...he had a lot of games at 3 or 4 tackels and no sacks.

Now I understand that a lot of these teams may have game planned away from Fowler or used different blocking schemes to help limit his impact (even though I don't really remember people talking this up during the year like you would hear about guys like Clowney)...and I also know that stats at face value don't tell the whole story...but from what they do say I think it is perfectly OK to be scared off or question Fowler at 3 with legitimate concerns.
Every year the media claims that the Jaguars are going to draft a pass rusher and with the exception of Harvey they are usually wrong, and I expect that they will be wrong again in this years draft.

The Jaguars might draft a guy like LT Peat Stanford since Luke hasnt lived up to the task but I doubt it.  They might trade down as many would think is the best scenario for them but I doubt it.

I would love to see them get a CB like Trae Waynes, but I doubt it.

I expect that GM Dave Caldwell will address the WR position by drafting Kevin White with the 3rd overall pick in the 2015 draft.

We got the best one!   Go Jags!
I was so hyped when the team got Blaine & Blake (The BBs) because the QB position is so important (premium) and you (GM) have to take a chance every now and then (QBs usually fail more than succeed).  I still have faith in Blake if GM Dave Caldwell gives him the protection he needs (Like LT Peat) and the weapons (like Cooper or White WR), but the defense needs help too (CB Trae Waynes for example).

When both sides of the ball played dismal which do you address with the 1st overall pick?  I mean he's a defensive minded guru yet the defense has stunk (stat wise) for the last two years so should he beg Dave for a guy on the defensive side to at least look great in that area should the team not break .500 in case he is terminated?

Uh oh...BUST
Did you guys know that Fowler is a Gator and Harvey is a Gator.
