Full Version: Williams vs Clowney

Pre Draft. Imagine for a second that you had no idea how Clowney's rookie year would play out. He was hailed as the once in a decade "prospect". Now, people say he basically sat out his final year at SC. But what if he didn't. What if he isn't actually as good as he was touted to be. The rest of the AFC South hopes so.

Then there's Williams, who most believe is the best player, not defensive player, player in this draft. If you take him from year to year, he was a player that is relentless and only progressed. As good as he is physically, his most important attribute is his mind. And that gives him an edge over Clowney. I personally would take Clowney, but it'd be tough. Really tough. But I'd take Williams over anyone in this years draft.
My wonder with that, specifically when it comes to The Jags, is...

...is Odrick the same type of player, impacting the defense similarly enough? He may not be what Williams might translate to be, but for all schematic purposes, we may already have that hole filled.

(Which would allow us to be very flexible)

As far as choosing? I would rather have Clowney, just causa that sick 40 time and his freakish athleticism, coming from the Otto or the Leo, but especially the LEO- he would wreak havoc~

Yeah Odrick is a poor mans Leonard Williams from a prospect standpoint. Caldwell is either eyeing a tradeback or Fowler Jr.

The problem with Clowney is the knee. He had a knee injury in college. Had an injury as a rookie and had microfracture surgery to fix it. His future is unknown because of his knee, not his talent.
You take Clowney every day. But if you knew he would have microfracture surgery you take Williams imo. No one comes back from those.

Clowney, but I do like both. I was nervous that he would be a bust and his injuries so far are not a good sign but maybe he will over come it?
