Quote:I'd drop to #12 if I'm confident I could still get Ray there. Even if Ray does go I figure the pot smoker will be there. That said, I'm not making the trade down to #12 for merely a 3rd and a 1st next year. Per the trade value charts they need to come up with 1000 points. To move down 9 spots, options might be...
-their later 1st round pick plus both of their 4ths
-their 2nd round pick and next year's 1st
-their 3rd plus their 1st and 2nd from next year
That chart is stupid. I don't think GMs even use it. Look at the RG3 trade and those points are no where near accurate.
Even the chart was accurate, who cares? When you have the pick, you make the rules.
If it's a player who you think will turn your franchise around, you're gonna have to break the bank to get him.
The browns won't be as bad as some people think. I can see them picking in the middle of next year draft. So that to me is a downer on that option unless the Jags get a compensated well.
The 3rd pick is GOLDEN!! Especially with the top talent in this years draft. Anything after pick 20 is no where near as good as some are making it out to be.
Moving 9 spots will cost the browns especially as it has been said, it's or a franchise QB.
I'm no GM or expert, but to me it's a "show me now" time with DC and we need talent, starter talent in this draft.
To move I would take #12 (1st), #43 (2nd), and trade our 5th for their 4th this year. Icing on the cake would be next year #1 from the browns, this is a must.
The browns will still get the #3 (1st) and the #19 (1st) so they can afford to not look back at loosing their second round pick.
This gives the Jags.....
#12 (1st)- Gregory, Beasley - (if he drops), Dupree
#36 (2nd)- Kendricks (LB)
#43(2nd)- Ajayi (RB)
#67(3rd)- Grasu ©
#103(4th)- Ifo-Ekpre (CB)
#111(4th)- ?
Knowing DC I would take that Extra 4th and package it with another pick to move back up if there is a guy he wants.

This is my thinking. If you want the guy you are gonna pay for him. Period. If they want him at 3 then they will pay for him. If not then the highest bidder will get him. We are not trying to do anybody any favors to get better while we take a low ball offer.
The Rams went from the 2 spot to the 6 spot. They went back a grand total of 4 spots and got 3 first rounders and 2 second rounders. We would be going from 3 to 12. This would need to basically be at minimum the same trade and even the precedent that has been set shows that is a very modest deal for our situation. If no one wants to pay then we take the cream of the crop in the draft and let the other teams decide their own fate. We should be about getting better at all cost whether that means fleecing other teams or drafting who we want when we want.
Quote:That's still not enough to go back that far. I know the charts aren't totally accurate, but they are meant to be a general gauge. To go from #3 to #12, we should get the equivalent of two additional second round picks. I was saying their 2nd round this year and next year's first because next year's first is equivalent to a second round pick this year. If you're ok with a second round pick and virtually nothing more, we should be able to get that much by merely moving back to #6. #12 is a lot further down the board.
I just looked at some of the trades from last year and none of them are even close to that value chart.
That thing is garbage.
Even if you throw out the charts, you really should use some sort of value scale. The fact of the matter is that it should take quite a bit more to go from #3 to #12 than it does to go from #3 to #6. Now I guarantee to go to #6 the Jaguars are at least asking for a second round pick. Therefore, to go all the way down to #12 they're sure to ask for quite a bit more.
