Reportedly worth 3.5 million. Dude's still making really good money for how old and past his prime he is. guess he's a good mentor and veteran for those young guys in the Lions' secondary to learn from. Anyone see that pick 6 he had last year though?
He is the one guy I still wish we never had let go. Miss that dude.

It was a great read and overall play in a game the Lions never should have let get away against a Bills team that wasn't as good. The good news from that game moving forward is it led to the signing of K Matt Prater, who stabilized the kicking game which was a nightmare in the first 5 games of the season.
Regarding Rashean Mathis re-signing with the Lions, I offered my thoughts in the following thread that might be a record for length on this section of the Forum:

Mathis is still playing at a decent level..glad he made one last nice pay day. Hope when his run is up he signs the ceremonial 1 day contract to retire a Jag
So much for him being "done" when the Jags let him walk. Parting ways with Daryl Smith is easily Caldwell's biggest mistake to date, and Mathis isn't far behind.
I liked them both but they were aging veterans and they were trying to get younger. Whatever. They wouldn't have made much difference in the long run.

Im not sure why but I totally spaced on him! Totally agree, miss them.

What would have been the point of keeping either?

That's what I keep coming back to. While I do miss having both of those guys on the Roster, what benefit would they have provided? I mean, I think the world of Daryl Smith, but Daryl Smith isn't going to win you five games a season. I just can't see that happening.
