"In Gus we trust

Last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars fell victim to unfair expectations of a major jump. While I did think they'd win more than three games, I recall hearing preseason playoff chatter in some circles. That was simply batty.

The Jaguars aren't a playoff team this year, either. But I don't think coach Gus Bradley and GM David Caldwell should be on the hot seat. 2016 -- Year 3 for Blake Bortles and Year 4 of the Bradley/Caldwell plan -- is the big campaign. I still like this duo. I still believe in it. Remember, these guys inherited a mess. Slowly but surely, they are upgrading this roster.

As Bradley told me on my SiriusXM Radio show, "Schein on Sports," the signing of tight end Julius Thomas greatly aids Bortles' development. This is paramount, as the quarterback had a less-than-flattering rookie season, with way more picks (17) than touchdown passes (11).

And while DeMarco Murray didn't take cash from the Jags, defensive tackle Jared Odrick did -- and he's an upgrade who will fit well in Bradley's D."

Obviously it is nice to hear positive opinions, but him also praising the Clots GM makes me doubt credibility.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of Grigson, but I gotta give credit where due.

I didn't think Vontae Davis would develop as he has, and I didn't think he was worth what the Colts gave up to get him at the time, but he has played very well for them and ranks by far as the best CB in the division.

I also think Moncrief has a good future.

Davis is a top 5 cb easily, possibly a top 3
I agree with 'rufftime' that it is nice to hear positive comments about the Jags; and just like last year, there are those who have ridiculous expectations this season for the Jaguars. There is simply no rational to expect the Jags to be contenders this season... we just aren't there yet. I think we're doing the right things to move in that direction (in spite of the last seasons record) and I think that it's continuing this season.

I think it would be great if the Jags made a Super Bowl run and came home with the Vince Lombardi trophy this season! But I'm not expecting it; I do expect that they should finish the season with at least a 6-10 record. Unlike Adam Schein, I think that if we can't produce at least a 6-10 record after three seasons with Gus Bradley as HC, and with the kind of quality drafting and f/a acquisitions we've been getting from Dave Caldwell...then I do think Gus needs to be on the 'hot seat'. I'm not harboring unrealistic expectations looking for at least a 6-10 season this year; and I don't think we have to wait until Blake Bortles has had three full seasons here himself.

I do think that we suffered a setback by changing OC after BB2 had only one season with him. I'm not a fan of Jedd Fisch by any means, but I'm less of a fan of changing OC's when you have a rookie quarterback running your offense. Nevertheless, what is done is done and I assume there was a good reason to cut Fisch when it was done. I just  hope our new OC is good enough to make up the difference.

I don't have playoff expectations for this year, but I'd be disappointed with anything less than 7-9.

I expect 6 wins or less after looking at our schedule. it also doesn't help that the Colts and Texans are getting better every year.

This is the year to show something on the record, I'm expecting a winning season. Doesn't mean playoffs or the division necessarily but I'm expecting more wins than losses.

I am hoping for 7-9 season anything less then six wins will put Bradley on the hot seat. We are heading into out third season with the new management and after a very disappointing season last year we need to see  team the take a step forward. If Caldwell has a good draft this year and we have a season with less then 6 wins then it will be Bradley that will  be fired and It will be hard to defend him staying the head coach, after three years of building you should expect an 8-8 season. I don't think he will lose his job with seven wins but anything less then six wins will be cause for concern. I am a fan of Gus and hope he has the success he needs to remain the coach. You may have the players behind you but you still have to win in this league to hold down your job, this is a pivotal year in Gus Bradley,s coaching career.

I could see the Texans taking a step back offensively, though I could see them better defensively, especially if Clowney comes back to 100%-not a certainty given the microfracture surgery on his knee.
I expect a slow start early as the new offense sinks in, with marked improvement in the second half of the season. I don't think 6 - 8 wins is out of the question, depending mainly on injuries.

There's just a whole lot of question marks right now about the Jags that are going to make it hard to be able to predict what they will actually be able to do this season. With the injuries that were sustained by key defensive players last season it's really hard to say what's going to happen on defense this season either.

We have a new OC and new players that hopefully will represent an upgrade; we'll see.

Here is the thing i'm a happy about last year, we were competitive in almost every game last year after the move to Bortles, thats usually the sign that a team is gonna improve the next year.

In the 10 losses with Bortles as starter only 2 games we lost by more then 2 tds. the 3 games before that we lost all of those games by more then 3 tds.

so thats 13 games competitive with 3 being wins after the first 3 weeks

All i saw is a bunch of stuff for the three other teams and then we look better and Gus we trust.

Smh. Im not happy about that lil snippet we got.

Adam Schein ?? Who is he ? His opinion is know greater then mines or anybody else. But i do respect the article. I feel jags should be eyeing at the least 8-8. We could have easily one 7 games last year if we had eliminated turnovers in some of them game.
we are a 6-10 team max with the free agency upgrade and 5-11 minimum. Depending on the draft, we can be a max 10-6 team and minimum 8-8 team.

who are we going to draft that makes a 4 win difference?

With your level of literacy, trust me, his opinion holds greater weight than yours.

So you don't know how to spell, you have horrible grammar, you call other posters idiots, and you ask me if I "get it" that your opinion lacks value with only me.

I have a feeling that other posters are smarter than you think, and you're dumber than you realize.
