Full Version: That last jobs report looked pretty good. Even Fox praised it. Thanks Obama!

The U.S. economy picked up in 2017 right where it left off in 2016.

America added 227,000 jobs in January, well ahead of December's gain of 157,000 jobs.

The unemployment rate ticked up a bit to 4.8%. More Americans started looking for work again -- a good sign -- which explains the small increase in unemployment.

You realize his numbers are nothing to be proud of, right? If we had an R president with those numbers we'd be in stagnation according to the same people.
You apparently know nothing about economics. You should even read your own articles that will guide you to the "but" that provides a more realistic picture. Underemployed, less manufacturing, etc.

We are at full employment. The number is never going to be 0. Where are of all of these 10s of thousands of jobs coming back?

The unemployment rate is a deceptive statistic since it only counts those still looking for work. The labor participation rate is more telling and that is lower than any time since the 1940s.

I do think it is funny that as soon as the country knew that Obama's policies were going to be demolished by Trump, the economy picked up major steam.

The truth is that in 8 years of Obama, we never had a single quarter of 3% or greater GDP growth, he is the only President to ever pull that feat off. Typically, when the economy goes in the crapper, you can at least grow it back quickly. This hasn't been a recovery, this is a sick wilted and stunted plant that's been fed poison for 8 years.
guys this is bad

You should probably read the articles you posted. It is basic macroeconomics. Job growth is a coincidence indicator and should not be a indicator of health alone. You are stuck on one indicator for economic health and a poor one at that. You need to weigh fiscal policy, monetary policy, industry, along with all sectors, etc. But I'm sure you are on top of it.
Agreed. If obummer wasn't such a total moron, Trump likely wouldn't have been elected and gotten all of those companies to invest right here in the US.

I love undisputed facts.

The same labor statistic has been used for decades, and I can guarantee as long as it remains relatively low Trump won't mind taking credit for 4% unemployment.
It's still a crappy statistic used by hacks, most economists look past that number to the labor participation rate.  The very definition of the unemployment rate exposes its fallibility. If Trump takes credit for that bogus crap number, I will be the first one to call him on it.

EVEN FOX?!

That's almost embarrassing. Labor force participation rate, u6, holla
Here's something to thank obummer for:

Under HIS watch, the US employment participation rate was the lowest it has been in 40+ years.

That's what the divider in chief did to this country. Thankfully, the Honorable President Trump has come along and done more to turn it around. He has done more since he was elected in November than his worthless predecessor did in 8 years and 11 trillion dollars.

The labor participation rate has steadily declined since the1970s Carter. The population has aged and many of the baby boomers are leaving or are out of the workforce...roughly 40 million people. Now some people have just stopped looking for work but again that doesn't tell the whole story.

1.6% gdp growth. Holla

Not to mention that there are more working aged people today than there was back then.

Facts tend to confuse the hell out of liberals though.
