Voter turnout is low because neither party puts out a candidate worth burning gas to go and vote for. 

Flsprtsgod suggests mandatory 30 year prison terms for every politician leaving office might be a good idea.

Exactly when one of the parties gets their rear our of their head people will turnout. But the non participation sends just as loud of a message to the status quo.


I'll vote third party to simply participate but non compliance is essentially the same thing, the more ppl opt out of the two party system the sooner we can get some real change.

Obama proved once and for all that the quality of a candidate is unrelated to his popularity.

Honestly I'm all for voting licenses and making people prove they know something about the political structure before being allowed to vote, it's a privilege not a right.

The more I talk to people the more I want fewer people voting.

And as much as you distrust the government, and you want them to issue voting licenses.

 

I mean no chances for abuse there.  Nope.  None whatsoever.

Also ignorant voting doesn't kill people.  Ignorant gun ownership?  Yeah, that kills people.  Lot's of people.

You think we don't have abuse now? There's protections against a voting license being used to suppress votes. All a voting license would do is discourage the uniformed and lazy voter that's a pretty positive thing. Can't be based on race gender religion party or financial status that's constitutional clear, other than that the last thing we should want is to turn elections into team sports that what it is today.

Can't repeal inalienable rights not that you ever could. Those rights don't come from government they are natural rights plenty of case law dives into that. But you know that

Falls short because people haven't had the stones to do anything about it. Doesn't change the reality the bill of rights was outlining natural rights.

Not for me I'm all for opposing views but it's the people with no views that treat voting like American idol I want to stay home
