Quote:I like both. Fowler seems to be a pretty safe pick. Reminds me of Ryan Kerrigan.
Seemed to stand out whenever I watched Florida with not a ton around him.
I agree Fowler is the safer pick, reminds me more of Clay Mathews tho
Beasley I like but there are some issues but wouldnt mind the pick
Gregory weight is a huge issue, way too small for the LEO, and not a active to be worth picking at 3, would only pick him in a trade back
tbh this is a year where I genuinely can't say who I want, I struggle with evaluating pass rushers as it's probably the most boom/bust area coming out of college, so am happy to leave it to dave, I must admit I don't like Gregory but I do like Ray and fowler. Though I don't think any pass rushers available have 3rd pick grades tbh more 8-10 hence why I want a trade down!
Beasley makes too much sense.
Id be ok with Beaaley. I dont want Gregory
Quote:Why do you think Vic is more of an OTTO while Gregory is more LEO. Im sure you have explained elsewhere but I must have missed it.
Very simply, length. Length is vital for LEO, and I think Beasley could pull it off (especially on obvious passing downs) but not ideally. Gregory +20-30 lbs is absolutely perfect LEO specimen.
Was not impressed with his game tape.

Why don't you want Gregory? To me he has the highest ceiling out of everyone in the entire class. You add on top of that that he is basically the prototype for the LEO position which is a huge need.
I think most people are not realizing that Gregory is not even close to scratching the surface of what he's capable of doing. With the right coaching and the right scheme Gregory will be an absolute monster with his jump off the snap, length, and aggressiveness.
Beasley and Fowler are safer picks for sure but don't count out Gregory and his crazy potential.

we don't know that Gregory can play 20-30 lbs heavier and keep his athleticism
There are a couple other guys I'm targeting ahead of Beasley, but I wouldn't object to Beasley being the pick even at #3 although he should be around at least a few picks later.

I feel the same way about Fowler. I would like to see Fowler after a year of being strictly a pass rusher and dedicating all his time to that one job. I think they moved him around a lot at Florida so he was solid at most things but not great at one thing. I want to see him rush the passer not stop and develop his rush moves. He has a good motor, good hand use, and good athleticism.

A couple weeks ago Gil Brandt put on twitter that a scout at Nebraska's pro day told him Gregory was "extremely athletic and lean" with narrow shoulders and will probably struggle to put on weight.

That's the thing about these top 4 pass rushers, they all have good motors and they all have good athleticism. With Gregory (who they also moved around a whole lot) you have great length to go with the athleticism, and with Beasley you have great lateral movement to go with the athleticism and similar length that Fowler has.
I would quibble a little with hand use for Fowler, he does show very good hand use sometimes, but he also lets the defender get into him a good amount too. Needs to work on the consistency a lot. I would put his hand use behind Gregory and Beasley, but far ahead of Ray. Don't have a good opinion Dupree's hand use yet.
That's why I keep getting back to Fowler being good, just 2nd best for whichever role you want behind Gregory at LEO or Beasley at OTTO.
I like Beasley too but #3 seems a little high.
I kinda wish we would trade down to #6 with the Jets. They get Mariota and we pick up an extra 3rd rounder, then select Beasley or one of the WRs

I totally get what you're saying about Fowler. I think it coaching would help quite a bit here as some plays he's just unstoppable with his hand use, spin moves, etc, and others he isn't as active causing him to get blocked. He's obviously got a ton of potential but it almost seems like they aren't coaching him much either.

He's still very young. I remember reading something too that because they moved him around, he hasn't been able to focus on one single thing.

This is what I believe. I would really like to see him focus only on being a pass rusher.
Trade down or Williams please.
If it's a trade down, I'm ok with Gregory, Fowler or Beasley.
Beasley seems to rely on quickness more then strength and a variety of moves.
Fowler is is quick, plays low to the ground, and uses his leverage to angle in on the opposing QBs.
Fowler played against better offensive linemen as well.

Completely agree. He'll get you his share of batted balls even if he can't make it home. Play still neutralized, and a chance for turnovers.

I'm with you there, and maybe in that order. Similar talents, though very different profiles.
