Quote:that's usually what UDFAs are for. im thinking they're giving Walters a legit shot to be the punt returner. He's not super fast but he was reliable for Seattle.
Yes, I think that's a fair description for him. He takes care of the football and don't fumble. Most of the times he calls a fair catch and sometimes he returns for 5 or 10 yards. I have nothing against Walters, but am happy to see him go, because I think we can find someone better in draft for KR/PR, who can also play his position (whether it's WR or another position) better than Walters.

People here are acting like this signing is a major disappointment because he's not a top tier player. The team has to get to 90 players on the roster. There are going to be a lot of signings like this, both veteran players with very little wear and tear, and UDFAs. Not all of those spots will be going to rookies.

"Elected to the Sphinx Head Society at Cornell."
They don't let just anybody in to this.........

Apparently Seattle let him go because he kept complaining about not getting the ball when the Seahawks got down to the 1 yard line in the SB.

Isn't it obvious?
Competition at return.
What's wrong with the signing? Ace hasn't lived up to the job, Todman is out, and Doss was out last year due to injury.
That being said, I expect to see even more competition coming in the draft.

Quote:Bryan Walters.
Some career highlights.
57 yards receiving last year, including a 17 yard reception
Career Avg 9.5 yards per reception
Elected to the Sphinx Head Society at Cornell.

But he doubled his career totals last year. If he keeps doing that, he'll get past 100 receptions in 2017.

Isn't it obvious? He caught 6 passes for 57 yards, clearly an upgrade over Ace Sanders who also caught 6 passes but for only 55 yards. Those two yards are easily worth the salary difference between a 5th year veteran vs. a 3rd year rookie contract.

We could have just gotten Adam Humphries in UDFA and saved some money for a player who might actually upgrade the PR spot

Newsflash, we're the Jacksonville Jaguars. Until we start winning, not a lot of people are going to want to come here.
