Not signing Demarco Murray!

1.  He's 27 and his best years are behind him.

2.  He ran behind arguably best O-Line in the NFL last year.

3.  Argue all you want but RB is not a premium position anymore and Eagles overpaid.

4.  He's 27!!!

5.  People are forgetting about Shoelace Robinson who's progressed every year and that's saying A LOT running behind this horrible O-Line!

6.  Did I mention he's 27??

I salute you DC, job well done!

Agreed, now go sign Greg Hardy. Premium pass rusher...check!
I will donate my kidney to sign Hardy!

Why do you keep saying "he's 27" like that's sort of argument?
I am starting to wonder if there isnt a draft day trade with the Eagles in the works. Why would philly want two high dollar RB's and a proven non winning QB when they clearly would like to have Mariota. Smells fishy.

Exactly. 27 is still prime for a feature back.

Now, say 392 carries? Yeah, that's an argument.

When you have a coach who wants everyone to think he's the smartest guy in the room, you see head scratching moves like this. Are you suggesting they would trade one of the backs they have to move up? They didn't commit that much guaranteed money to a player to trade him. If they want to trade up, start lining up draft picks. That's all teams will be interested in.

Because of the amount of money he got.  Like I said, his best years are behind him.

Yes that is what I was suggesting. I guess I am just left scratching my head. If they wanted to trade would not the receiving team be on the hook for paying the players contract? Anyway here is my reasoning. Seemed like the jags were very interested. Murray walks on 5 mil a year and takes 9 mil from Eagles. What were we willing to pay? 7-8? So would it be reasonable that getting the QB you really want would be worth a 4 mil hit to the Eagles?
I hope we draft one, even 2 RB's this year.

I would not count on that happening.

^This

It's a very good call not to give him 8 million year for 5 years.

That's a worse deal than Marcedes got.
Laugh at the oline argument. Still gotta find the hole hit it and break tackles.
Denard gonna feast.

The OL alone is not enough, but there are probably a lot of good RBs who never succeed because of poor blocking up front.

I saw an interesting comment about Chip Kelly that may have some truth in it.   The comment was, he's a college coach who wants to see if his system will work on the pro level.   So he's using the Eagles like his personal toy, tinkering with the roster, knowing that if he fails, he can go back and get a top college job.   I just wonder at what point Jeffrey Lurie steps in and says, enough.
Don't forget his fumbling issues

i was wondering that myself
While it would be nice to have a premier running back, the position isn't of the value it once was given that the league has become more pass oriented. Murray is 27, and while that means he is at his peak (age wise) it also means that he is at the point for running backs where typically they will soon start to slow down. It is also true that while at Dallas, he was running behind what is/was arguably the best offensive line in the NFL. Murray was certainly a beneficiary of this, as well as the high number of carries he got. The down side of it is that he will no longer have the best o-line in the NFL in front of him and the number of carries he had in Dallas may well have put excessive wear on him.

Taking all this into consideration, along with the enormous contract he is/was seeking, and Dave Caldwell did well to pass on him. There are good running backs in the up-coming draft who don't have the mileage and wear that Murray already has and are to be gotten for far, far, less money.

Don't get me wrong... I think Murray is a great running back, but he is now on the outside edge of his prime as a running back and the cowboys all but 'ran his wheels off' last season. Given those perimeters, I don't think he is worth what he wanted and the eagles over paid for him. We'll see.
