Not surprised with this trade. As being from Louisiana, I can honestly say that Jimmy was not as good as everyone thought of him to be. He was very overrated. I think the saints got the better part of the deal. A new starting center and a first round pick. Not to mention a lot of new cap space. Saints won this trade

It looks like the Seahawks are seriously exploring an expensive option to replace C Max Unger. At some point in the next year or so, the expected Russell Wilson contract is going to limit them substantially:

I don't know why some team always has to "win" a trade. I think both teams get what they wanted/needed and it's a fair deal for both teams at this point, but time will tell more. I look at this trade as is if two separated trades happened. #31 pick for a top 2 TE in the NFL and a 4th round pick for a solid, yet often injured experienced center.
Interesting thing is the Saints were the team that first contacted us because Sean Payton wanted Max Unger. They were willing to offer one of their young WRs in a trade (don't know which one, but maybe Nick Toon, who was Russell Wilson's teammate at Wisconsin). John Schneider then probably heard they are willing to trade Jimmy Graham and there we go.
I'm not worried about trading away our 1st round pick, because I'm already used to that, lol. Of course things could go wrong, but I don't think this can turn into another Percy Harvin disaster. If we didn't trade for Graham, we would probably trade down from 31 to 40-50 rang and get another 4th round pick on the way (we did get Saints 4th round pick in this trade, so we didn't loose anything).
Peter King said there are only 16 players with 1st round grade on Schneider's board. Mike Mayock also said something similar at NFL combine that most of the teams only have 15-20 1st round rated prospects. So talent-wise there is not much difference between bottom of 1st round and 2nd or 3rd round. We also have enough picks to maybe trade up in the second round to get back into that 40-50 rang if there is a player we really like.
It's your opinion that Graham is overrated and while I think his number were a bit inflated because of the system he played in, you can't deny he's one of the best red zone targets you can get. I don't expect him to have 90 catches and 1k yards in our system, but he'll turn 3rd downs into 1st and FGs into TDs. He'll also open up offense, so we won't see 8-men in the box as much which will help Lynch and Wilson.

I think John Schneider is just doing his homework and don't expect we will overpaid Wisniewski. There were some rumours he only wants around $3M per year and if this is true, we can afford that. I doubt we'll pay him much more.
Unger was nowhere near the 2012 level over the last two season and there were also some rumours he would be cut if we didn't trade him. He missed 10 games last season and both backups (Patrick Lewis and Lemuel Jeanpierre) replaced him pretty good. Jeanpierre is a FA, but I didn't see him linked to any team, so he'll probably be re-signed.
I'm also not worried about our cap space after Wilson gets new contract. Most of key players on defense are already signed long-term and in a year or two Lynch will retire and we'll also get rid of Harvin's dead money next year. Also, cap number is expected to go up for around $20M over the next two years. In 2017 we'll probably look at most of the contracts signed this or last year as a very team friendly.
