Welp...if this is true, we have a candidate for S.

Sounds more like a special teamer.

He played well last year when Landry was suspended, good athlete we good range, should be much more effective than Josh Evans.

Sounds like an Alan Ball/Geno Hayes type bridge player. They know this is a weak draft for free safety and after McCourty, not much in free agency.

This.  ^
Supposedly a stud special teamer. We definitely need some help there.

03/08/15 - S Sergio Brown, unrestricted FA update, is a good backup player in the secondary who can start if needed. Brown did that quite well last season when LaRon Landry was suspended for four games by the league. He wound up with 33 total tackles and six passes broken up. How good was Brown? Landry had a heck of a time regaining his starting position late in the season.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Copied that from a different topic. And here is PFFs blog post:

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">13:00 The Jaguars look like they are going to be busy early in free agency, with <a class="bbc_url" href='https://twitter.com/MikeGarafolo/status/575338956495020032' title="External link">Mike Garafolo </a>reporting that they are expected to sign soon to be former Indianapolis Colts safety Sergio Brown. Brown impressed last season, posting an overall grade of +4.7 on 541 snaps including the playoffs. That’s the most we’ve seen on him, so there is some risk involved, but it looks like the Jaguars are willing to take that chance.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

McCourty had just over double the PFF grade on almost exactly double the snaps. Seems like another signing like Parnell, House, and Skuta who were PFF studs in ~1/2 time roles who could be nice upgrades if that play continues with an expanded role.

Upgrade over Evans and special teams ace like it

With a name like Sergio, he has to be tough.  Probably got beat up a lot as a kid.

This dude grew up in a town that is 82.7% african american and his parents named him Sergio ?

I'm tellin' you, this has to be 1 tough dude !!!

Agree.  At worst, competition, slight upgrade at the position, improved ST.

Also, filling these holes, even with "patches"... allows us to draft as intended.  Best available, not best available need.

Does he win the FS role - or is he a special team ace?

We'll probably draft a FS mid to late and Brown will start.

Great on special teams.

Average safety.

Great guy/locker room presence.

If he is an average Free Safety that is a big get for us.

That video is hilarious. I love guys that bring tons of energy ala Telvin Smith.

Super cheap too, love it.
