He gave some of the most exciting plays for us. The chants of Drewwww were heard every game he played. The game is a business. Owners have no loyalty any more than players do. Ask Freddy. Tony B. given up to other teams...yet come back as Jaguars.

When he retires I'll be there to lift a cap and beer and send him off...with a loud Drewwww.

Others who are still bitter can retreat to the Bud Zone to munch on their own sour grapes during the send off.
Good he is a top 5 all time Jag

I just don't get the malevolence towards MJD. Dude was awesome.

The man is retiring at age 29, his body could take no more pounding. He left it all on the field. I put a lot of stock in what Gus Bradley said about his work ethic, and his commitment to team and community.

A sure bet for The Pride.

Haters gonna hate. Meh.

A player who holds out half a season for more money in the situation we were in isn't committed to his team or communitty... he's committed to money. I don't believe he deserves to be in the pride because of the hold out and the 'civic disturbance' he was a part of; I'm not a hater, but I also don't have a man crush on MJD.

If "half a season" = preseason, you'd have a more valid point.

I dunno about the pride
I wonder what happened to MJD.  After that foot surgery, he could never recover. Maybe, he was sick of rehabbing all the time, and just wants to move on.  He's still 29 currently, and that's pretty young when he was a premier back just 3 years ago.

He was our best player for 5 years and pretty much carried this team on his back for that time. He may not be a HOFer, but he's worthy of the Pride, in my opinion.

Unfounded criticism based on some weird blind hatred of MJD... I just don't get it

yup.

My criticism of MJD isn't unfounded, nor do I harbor some 'weird blind hatred' of him. You're response smacks of 'inferred racism', which you can attempt to bandier about all you like as I've not yet observed you display the innate ability for cognitive thought... however, I would like to address your attitude of seeming hopeless negativism; why, consider the lilies of the field, or look at 'rollerjag' as your paradigm of optimism.

This is like the 2nd comment i seeing u hating on MJD. I dint get it for the years 2006-2012 he was the only reason jacksonville had national spotlight, he was consistantly a leading rusher. Pretty much our only relevant playing for years. Show the man respect

He was everything I want from a Jaguar. He left it all on the field, every play, every game. He was the face of the franchise.

Yup?

There is more to 'respect' than stats on a football field... it involves the whole person. MJD was a hold out player when he was our only offensive weapon, leaving the team and the fans in the 'lurch'... and you find that 'respectable'? You mention how he was our leading rusher, and he was... but you also need to see that in the whole context and realize that he (MJD) was the beneficiary of an inept offense which basically limited us to nothing but a running game. How can you not be our best offensive weapon when for years you were essentially our only offensive weapon? That MJD was the leagues leading rusher one season shouldn't, under the circumstances, be reason for accolades but for consternation at how poor our offense has otherwise been as a whole.

He has been an outstanding running back, no question. But put him in the pride after being a hold out? No.

Ya' know... I'm about to do something that I don't ordinarily do; I'm going to do a complete 'flip-flop' on what I've said about MJD being in the pride. After pondering this, I've changed my mind and say that yes, MJD should be considered for the pride. Why would I do this? I wanted Jimmy Smith in the pride, that's why. I think that MJD has as much reason to be in the pride as Jimmy does. MJD did something while a part of this team that I don't agree with; and Jimmy Smith did something after the Jags that I don't agree with. They both were great athletes during their time here, so maybe MJD should be in the pride.

Me 2 I know the franchise and him started to have problems the year he left, but he had played hard for several years and was basically the face of the franchise... good to see him retire as a Jaguar!
I have to say this, I lost all respect for MJD when he held out and got into the fight at Konch. I agree with other people who does not believe he deserves to be in the ring of pride. I was one of MJD's biggest fan until he disrespected the fanbase. I was at work when I first heard the news of the holdout, and I was like "ok, he will get his money, just dont miss any practice or game time". Once he came back he was out of shape causing him to break his foot twice, which I believe was pure karma. Once his skills faded, he started getting into fights, and carried an even bigger stupider chip on his shoulder which I never liked in the first place. He never trained here in the offseason, and then insulted us even further by trying to get one more last paycheck by going to a team that was worse than the Jags in the last 15 years. It took awhile but maybe there was a reason why other teams passed on him in the draft and its because of this stupid make believe chip on the should he had to manufacture.

If he never steps foot back in Jacksonville so be it. Good riddance. I was hurt by his last few actions here and will never fully get over it.
