Quote:There is a risk of a late season collapse from Indy if these guys (Gore, AJ, Cole, Mathis, Herremans) wear down and show their age.

Yea, they are definitely going for broke.  If they don't do it this year I can't imagine a year from know these guys are going to be in any better of a situation.
Quote:Yikes.  Are they opening a senior home in your stadium?

Funny people keep saying that, when in fact the core of our team is probably one of the youngest in the league.

Without Andre our oldest WR is 25. That's TY Hilton.

Also, absolutely love this signing!
i think this will work out relatively well for the colts for a year or two. not so much for andre.

we will see what other moves the colts make but i dont think these moves are gonna get them over the hump.

A better signing than Gore that is for sure.

Thought he would want to join a contender though

... Are you saying the Colts are not? Are you being serious or being an Achilles?
A contender for the afc south sure.

So Achilles is your answer.

Shame, I was just giving you credit a couple days ago too.
All I remember of the Colts 2014 is patriot and Cowboy humiliations now...

I actually think for the first time in years we have a chance of topping the division (I can be as big a homer as you this time of year)

Thanks for the credit though CW. You will be happy to hear Brisbane are looking awesome in preseason AFL too, turning it around like the jags

The colts are closer to being a contender to reach the SB than they were at any point during the season last year, but not because of improvement by the colts, it's because of regression by the patriots. With Revis gone they'll still likely be better than the colts, but it's not like losing a guy of Revis' ability doesn't hurt. I can't see the colts matching up with a team like the seahawks in the SB if they were to stumble their way into it, though, especially now that the seahawks have J Graham.

Pretty much my sentiments exactly. I can't imagine gore holds up the whole season but Andre should and still has enough left in the tank to be a weapon. Especially with ty taking the top of the defense.

It doesn't make much sense explaining yourself to coltswarriors because he's like talking to a brick wall. There is one more colts fan that comes on here that's pointless to talk to, I forgot their name though, but guys like flash and such, though I may disagree with them are actually pretty intelligent and offer up a good back and forth. Cw is a bit of a turd.

BTW I'm assuming you were a poster here before we got j Thomas. What was your name before?

I think it's a bit of both. It's not possible to say the Colts got worse by the additions of: Gore, Johnson, Langford, Cole.

And only losing the likes of Sergio Brown, Injured Reggie Wayne, & Cory Redding (probably our biggest lose).

Also, Achilles is the hallmark for a terrible poster. Smile

I don't think the colts got worse, the moves they've made so far seem like horizontal movement. The colts will have to do their talent acquisition in the draft, and the GM there hasn't been consistently great at that so far, so there is no certainty it will happen.

The Jaguars definitely got better in free agency. Julius Thomas alone is a massive upgrade over Marcedes Lewis whose blocking isn't nearly as good over recent years as he seems to be getting credit for. I think Parnell couldn't possibly be as bad as what the Jaguars trotted out at right tackle, either. Odrick will have to show me he's worthy of a forty million dollar contract, though. If the Jaguars land a real pass rushing threat in the draft and shore up the linebacking corps I think they should show some major improvement.

I don't really want to get into message board arguments about who is or isn't a good poster. I can already tell there are a few posters around that are just trying to rile things up, but I expect fans of teams to be a little unrealistic and resistant to argument about their team.

I'm not sure this is true. The 2012 draft was a home run. Almost every pick turned out to be great (NOT just Luck).

The 2013 draft was a disaster and the reason for most people thinking Grigson is failure when it comes to evaluating the draft.

The 2014 draft was pretty good. Couldn't really ask for much more especially given the fact we gave up our first pick for Trent.

Mewhort is a solid guard and started for us all last year and will this year too.

Moncrief has great potential and flashed many times last year. His role is sure to increase as the years go on.

Newsome led our team in sacks last year and was consistently getting pressure on opposing QBs. He has true star potential.

So while he did completely whiff on an entire draft in 2013, he's had great success too. Even though people decide to only focus on his failures.

The 2012 draft was pretty good, mostly because of Hilton. I'd consider everyone else from it about worthy of where they were selected. Second rounders should be good, and you took one high second rounder and one at the top of the 3rd round. I'm not sure it was as great as you think, though. I think a lot of the success of indy so far has been due to getting to beat up on such a weak division. Your home run players get beat down really hard against the pats.

Getting a couple of solid play/potential guys out of a draft isn't what I'd consider a good draft. The Jaguars' 2014 draft was a good draft, and if Bortles becomes a top tier QB (as a guy taken at #3 should) then it will be a great draft. A pro bowl level guard in the third, a couple of good to possibly really good WRs in the second, a starting quality center, a future pro bowl linebacker in Telvin Smith, and an undrafted WR that made major plays. Luckily the Jaguars had the cap space at this time to sign at least one impact guy in free agency. Depending on how the draft goes the Jaguars should easily be a .500 team this season and end the run of easy wins for the colts against them.

I think that the Jaguars are getting better at the perfect time.  The Pats are worse, the Broncos are worse, the Ravens are staying the same, the Colts are the same...There is about to be a changing of the guard in the AFC, and if Bortles becomes our franchise QB, we're going to have a very strong shot for the next 10 years at a SB.
