Quote:How is that more believable and they just signed McCown? Also how often has a team drafted a QB in the first round in consecutive years?
Let's keep this in perspective: they drafted Manziel last year.

Not often at all.

In 1982, the Baltimore Colts selected QB Art Schlichter, and followed that up by taking John Elway in 1983.

In 1989, Dallas selected Troy Aikman first overall, then that summer, spent a first round Supplemental pick (which became the first overall pick in 1990) on QB Steve Walsh.

That's it over the past 40 years.

True. But I still don't see them drafting another QB in the first round, at least not a QB that will cost them more than one pick. If anything Mariota should be the last QB they look at considering he's a system QB and they just failed miserably with a system QB in Manziel.

Thanks bullseye. As I figured.
Breaking news out of Philadelphia and Buffalo might give us some other ideas about the Mariota-to-Eagles rumors. They traded LeSean McCoy for a former Duck.

Could this be an indicator Kelly is trying to make his team the Philadelphia Ducks?

Oh!!! Now you want to believe the rumors.

Mariota WILL be an Eagle. One way or another.
Quote:I think he will address the rumors. Whether he denies the claims about trading "a king's ransom" outright or says reporters misunderstood something, he will not just sit back and say nothing. He might insist Nick Foles is the starter and a good fit for the offense. He might deny reports Foles is being shopped. He might talk about players who are projected to be late first round picks.

And if he says and does all of these things and still drafts Mariota what will be your response then?

Not saying I want to believe it, just asking if anybody thinks the trade affects what the Eagles will do with their #20 pick.
Here it is folks: Chip Kelly talking about the Marcus Mariota rumors.

Quote:"Let's dispel that right now," Kelly said. "I think that stuff's crazy. You guys have been going with that stuff all along. I think Marcus is the best quarterback in the draft. We will never mortgage our future to go all the way up to get somebody like that because we have too many holes to take care of."

Meanwhile Sam Bradford said he had known for several weeks he might be traded to Philadelphia.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...-be-traded

Quote:"This had been in the works for a while," Bradford said. "So it didn't catch me totally by surprise when it happened yesterday."

That makes me think what Chip Kelly said is not smokescreen, considering the fact Mark Sanchez re-signed with the team. Mariota would be the third string quarterback if the Eagles draft him. But the Rams lied to reporters before trading Bradford, insisting he will be their quarterback this year. Apparently they have secret plans for the pick they got from the Eagles.

... or all that QB work the Eagles are putting in is just to lead people on and fool others so he falls further down for an easier trade up.

At thsi point the only way Mariotta becomes an Eagle is if he plummets on draft day.
