Tight end James Casey is free to sign with any team in the league after his release from the Eagles and he may meet with all of them before landing a gig for the 2015 season.


Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that Casey has scheduled visits with the Bengals, Jaguars and Redskins. They join the Titans, Browns, Broncos and Cardinals on the list of teams that have met with Casey or set up meetings with him since he hit the open market.


Casey’s a valuable special teams player in addition to being able to play a role as an effective blocker at tight end, fullback or H-back on offense. That usefulness explains why so many teams have shown interest in bringing Casey on their roster.


The expanding list also suggests none of them have proffered a contract that’s made Casey content to stop exploring what else might be out there. We’ll see if that changes with these three new additions or if Casey will wind up making more stops on tour than Taylor Swift.

I'm going to laugh when he takes a vet minimum contract.

He's more valuable than the Yugo since he actually plays Special Teams.

I came by this where James Casey, Eagles former TE has a scheduled interview with us and a couple other teams as well as finished interviews with several other teams. Don't know much about the guy but maybe you guys can discuss and figure out if he is a good fit for the team.

I'd rather have Todd Herremans who the Eagles just parted ways with. Had a biceps injury that cost him The last 8 games of last year but he'd be a solid veteran signing on the OL.

I worry about any offensive lineman coming off a serious arm injury like that, especially one of Herremans' age. I wouldn't complain if he were brought in on a one-year prove-it deal to challenge for the left guard spot, but I wouldn't expect too much. Given that KC has potential holes along its OL, it wouldn't shock me if he followed his old boss (Andy Reid) out west.

That is what I was thinking. He most likely though will get a 2 year deal 4 million total.
