Quote:I guess I am a huge fan of Scherff.  I like him better than Reiff, and Reiff wasn't bad coming out of Iowa.

I will say this...if Scherff drops out of the top ten, and the Jaguars somehow traded out of the top ten (i.e. hypothetical trade for both of Cleveland's first rounders), I would not object to the Jaguars drafting him at all, especially if RT is not adequately addressed in free agency.

With pick # 9,  the Giants probably are the most likely team to take Brandon Scherff if he goes in the top 10.   Especially,  when combining that they have to make one or more major additions on their Offensive Line and they have a history in recent years of taking an Offensive Tackle  ( Justin Pugh )  that doesn't have long arms.

If the Giants pass on Scherff,   there's probably a better than even chance he will last to pick # 12,  which Cleveland currently has.

What position do you believe would fit Brandon Scherff's skills the best in the NFL?
I think if the Jags are going to pay him his 12 Mil per season, he is going to have to show he is the guy and I think he can. He would still have SenDerrick Marks beside him and hopefully someone manning the Otto that can provide pressure from the opposite end of the Dline and in 3rd down situations, Ryan Davis mans the DT position next to Marks. So there is plenty of pass rush but his job is to create QB HURRIES. Sacks are great but QB Hurries is all that is necessary to get the job done. That is what Hughes does best.

Guard or RT, because of arm length.

I think he could excel in a scheme that calls for pulling, or more of a power scheme without as much pulling.

Going under the assumption that your view is the consensus view,  which is very possible,   Brandon Scherff's draft spot projection is one of the key x factors of the entire 1st Round.

I look back to the 2013 draft when Jonathan Cooper and Chance Warmack were taken with picks # 7 and # 10,  respectively.   While it's still early in their careers,   for one or more reasons,  neither has lived up to his draft billing.    On the other hand,  the Cowboys got great value in 2014 after drafting Zack Martin with pick # 16 this past May.    Will teams be influenced more by Martin's performance level or by the early disappointments of Cooper and Warmack?

Sooooo....

He'll be good at pulling or not pulling. Either one. Is that your take?

Hey...you gotta hedge your bets!

Put it another way, he is "scheme diverse."

He could fit in a zone blocking scheme or a more conventional scheme.

Oh I got ya, just picking at nits is all.

I guess I'm just a bit jaded at the prospects that Ferentz keeps cranking out along the Offensive Line. Are they good players? Yes. But it seems that every year we are told that these guys are All Pro types when they really turn out to be kind of average players.

###EDIT: By the way, just to stump here a little bit for my own thread, I started a discussion about DE types that could come in and play OTTO for the team after a bit of development. I'd enjoy reading your takes on that topic if you have the time.
