Has anyone considered the idea of Coates being Bortles'go to? I would like the change of attitude, to, hopefully challenge Blackmon on his comeback tour. Help respark his fire to go along with Doss, Sanders, Shorts, Hurns, Streeter, Robinson and Lee
He hurt his stock real bad at the combine. If we needed to draft a wide receiver, our pick would be Kevin White at #3.

Says who?

you don't know who it would be

That's who I would want it to be
This is supposed to be a strong WR draft, and I'm leaning towards the Jaguars drafting one in the first 2 rounds.

I doubt it. Unless one of the elite 3 somehow miraculously falls to the 2nd or 3rd.

Dave pretty much said that too, unless somebody really elite falls to the 2nd round, dont expect us to take a WR that early
Ok. Lets say Coates falls to the 3rd round.. 6'1" 212 running a 4.43,benching 225 23x's with a 41" vert-

I say Sullivan can coach him to be a more reliable target for his QB, based on the list of weaknesses on his draft profile

.... as if battling addiction and competing against 2 second round WR selections last year wasn't enough.  Throwing Coates into the mix doesn't move the barometer related to the challenges Blackmon faces.
I can just about see the sense in drafting someone like White or Cooper, if you think they are going to be exceptional. Someone who will be significantly better than the WRs we have so far.

But I don't really see the need to spend mid-round draft picks on mid-level receivers. Not unless you are quitting on the rookies we picked last year (and why would you do that ?)

Neither does anyone else, but everyone speculates. If you don't know that you can't read.

I was more talking about what I wanted them to do.  But I do think there are some scenarios that would make it happen.  And if this is really a better WR draft than last year( like I've been hearing) then 1st round WR talent will certainly fall into the 2nd round.  Only so many teams can pick a WR.
Freak athlete but not a natural WR,reminds me of the Hill guy from GT

I agree with this.  They need to find someone to complement what they already have.  If they can find a guy who can take the top off a defense, and couple that with signing someone like Julius Thomas in FA they'd have a very complete set of receiving weapons.
I can see some valid points to go against the idea. I guy to take the top off or a redzone jumpball specialist. Like u said, a receiver to complement what we already have. Either way, Blake needs a solid go to
Coates could be a good complimentary guy. But Robinson seems like he'll be the go to moving forward
He's got too many drops for my taste. If he can be gotten later, then I'd be okay with it but methinks he's gonna be a ball of frustration wherever he goes.

Watch the games.  Coates is good.

Horrible comparison.  Coates' instincts as a receiver are actually good.

Stephen Hill wasn't even on the draft radar until the combine and is just tall and fast.  Coates was expected to be a high draft pick because he actually played well in college.
