Most people didn't even know of this guy until he destroyed the 40 yard dash this weekend. At 6'6, 240 pounds he hails from GT, the school famous for its large, athletic freak WRs. The article linked gives a brief overview of Waller and suggests that he should be open to a position switch to TE since he's already a pretty decent blocker but needs help working on the finer points of catching and route running. If he's available in the mid rounds would you consider it, assuming we don't draft a TE earlier?

Would be a great TE developmental prospect.

If he RSV 4.6 yes a move would be likely. At that speed, depending on his back skills people will still want him outside

Why should we convert a wide receiver to tight end when there are some great natural tight ends available at #36?

Because at his size and speed he would have the potential to be better than all of those guys.

And because there really aren't any "great natural tight ends" in this draft period. Waller would be a nice early day 3 devy pick or something.

Definitely. He or Blake Bell behind a FA acquisition and Harbor would be solid.

I think Bell might even go late day 2...and Jesse James probably already locked in day 2 also.

How's James development-wise? I know he has a massive frame, and if I recall he had a good combine.

Only watched the one game on DB, and he did pretty well but not great. But yeah, he was one of the huge winners of the combine (huge size pun intented). Massive size, really nice drill numbers, and to me he looked very fluid and natural in the gauntlet. I'd like to have him, but not sure if he'll be the top guy on the wish list in the early 3rd and I think he'll be gone by round 4.
