Quote:Worse case scenario-Everbank falls through a sinkhole., Bortles does not improve. If Bortle does not improve things will get back fast.

Imagine if this happened at 2pm on the day we are playing our Home game in London vs Buffalo.

...where is my "feeling blessed" emoticon.

As we sit, worst case is 2-14 with a best case of 6-10. As much as it pains me, realistically I still think we are a year away from anything above .500. A lot hinges on Bortle's development, with the O-line issues a close second. I believe the rest of the team is serviceable and perhaps will make strides this off-season.

I think if Bortles regresses, then get hurts it'll be pretty bad and confusing moving forward. That would infer poor protection continuing.

Defensively if big plays and the lack of tackling persist then Gus is gone when the losses pile up. Which means every on the roster is playing for a spot and not for wins.
I say 4 wins is horrible.... I really hope we can hit at least the 6 mark if anything. I dont want long stretches without a win.

Worst case? The L.A. Jaguars go 19-0 and win the Super Bowl.

5-11 or worse and Gus apparently doesn't "have it" and is gone.  In that event, hard to call this a bad scenario.

7-9 or better and Gus is staying because he might finally be getting this lethargic team going.  This is a good scenario.

6-10, factoring in the impending FA aquisitions and draft class, means Gus probably stays but we have no idea if he is going to work out yet, which could mean another wasted year for the franchise.
Talk about 'the glass is always half empty' syndrome! If... this team can reach 6-10 this coming season it would indicate positive development and legitimate grounds to think we can continue getting better. Rhetorically speaking, if it happened that the following season (2016) we remained 6-10 or worse, then that would be grounds to think that Gus just isn't 'the man' and it may be time to move on from that experiment.

As I see it, Gus's whole tenure here depends on the team demonstrating a positive trend in the end of season record; it does not require a dramatic overnight leap from being in the cellar to being super bowl contenders. After a 6-10 season, we might realistically expect nothing less than to finally reach or exceed the 8-8 mark the following season, imho.

Of course, as in life, things rarely proceed along in such a graduated manner. Things happen that alter the outcome of whole seasons that no one has any control over; injuries, events off the field, etc. That not withstanding, I think that a 6-10 record this coming season would be a good thing... provided we don't 'park' there and become a perennial 'middle of the pack' team.
Worst case would be no improvement, and see around 4 wins.  Just my 2 cents...

Worst: 3 wins

Best: 9 wins

I am hopeful for 7
Worst case scenario: we are talking 2016 draft in October
I've already responded to this question and I stand by what I wrote; however, in giving it more thought I concluded that there are any number of scenarios (beyond simply not achieving at least a 6-10 record this season) that would be just horrendous for the Jags. For example, what if...

Blake Bortles started regressing more instead of developing good technique.

our offensive line looked even more inept than they did last season (hard to imagine that).

our young WR's as a group started developing a serious case of the 'drops'?

Justin Blackmon made it back onto the roster and was really playing great football... and once again gets busted halfway through the season.

Our linebackers just can't seem to cover the middle and once again other teams move down the field at will.

Our primary offensive threat is scobbie... and banger is our best and most valuable player.

As you can see, the possibilities for negativism are almost endless. 'Every silver lining has a much larger dark area inside it'. Still, I can't hardly believe that this team would do worse than 6-10 this coming season. Gads! We're not really expecting much if all we're hoping for is a 6-10 season!

Bortles takes a step back, we draft Gurley in the 2nd and lose him to a acl, Lee and Robinson dont finish the season, Cyprien becomes don carey, Joeckel plays 3 games before being benched for a late round swing tackle, Suh signs then goes hugh douglas, draft Fowler and he looks pitiful for whatever reason, Colvin gets torched all game every game , sign julius thomas and he drops 1/3 of all passes thrown his way.

Pretty much this.
Worst case for 2015-16 Season

Bortles comes in and has two of the most fabulous QB starts in 2015 with a rating of 158.3 passer rating in each game...then he takes the Blackmon journey and gets suspended for DUI, and gets busted with a kilo of pot and re-suspended for the course of the year.  He shows up at 300lbs for 2016 Training Camp, Jemarcus Russel style. And the rest of short career, plays like Ryan Leaf.  Finally it turns out that Winston and Mariota become the next Peyton Manning and Tom Brady QBs, and the Jaguars passed on them both at #3. :whistling:
I think "worst case" would be four wins.

With key additions, a good draft, and continued improvement, I'd hope we could get to 5 or 6 this year at least.

I'm waiting till after free agency and the draft to speculate how many wins we achieve this season.... Right now, I expect an improvement by what I've seen the front office do thus far... How much of one remains to be seen.

Someone puts piranhas in the pools?

Worse case is Bortles doesn't improve and the line is still just as bad as last year.
