who is the most important player on this team?  I think its bortles.  so why would it be such a stretch to draft a right tackle to protect him?  would I rather see us get bulaga in free agenacy?  yes.  cant see green bay letting him go.  not sure why a lot of people wanting to get a prospect leo at 3 when we need to think of getting our future qb some line help.  so I guess my question is would you rather take a flier on a leo or get the best right tackle we have seen since searcy?  I think Williams is the best prospect at defensive line and I would not pass on him but if he is gone give me scherff or peat over reaching for a pass rusher.

Saying anyone on this team is more important than Bortles would be wrong. Its always the QB.

You don't draft a RT at 3 just because you need one. If you want to help Bortles, you get a veteran through FA who doesn't have a rookie year where he gets toasted and is "learning" the game. Not to mention, drafting a RT at 3 could be terrible value. Is there a tackle in this draft worthy of #3 or even in the top 10? I don't think so.

Gregory or Williams will be there and they are much better players who fit the value of #3.
Passer, pass rusher, pass defender. In that order, always.

Banger...he's a weapon.

I don't think Randy Gregory will be in the mix at 3. I don't see how he could play anything other than OLB in a 3-4 in the NFL given his size. NFL RTs would bully the guy.

I kinda put him in the same category as Barkevious Mingo, and he's not worked out according to plan so far. I'm not a big college fan though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I'm also not that much of a Gregory fan. He reminds me of someone who starts at the top of the draft in the offseason, but once the draft comes around, he ends up going later, like Damontre Moore.

Not sure about that.

I remember the 1995 draft where TC was interviewed, and he was saying you gotta get a quarterback, then someone to get the quarterback (pass rusher) then someone to protect the QB.

Now I don't necessarily think that justifies taking a pure RT at 3, but I am not as vehemently opposed to a Scherff selection as some.

But your point still remains a valid one.

It's confirmed by history a cover CB...a shut down CB, is generally more valuable than a RT.

I will say that J.J. Watt's presence  makes RT more important.
Im a big fan in trading the pic. there are a lot of teams looking to move up i can see trading the best option for the #3. More picks More possible gems found in draft.

Why do you think there is demand for the #3 pick (or more precisely, why do you think there are a lot of teams looking to move up?)
Most important player on the team is Scobee. Without him, the team would have no points.

I think you can go either way with pass blocker vs pass defender. On both sides a team is better for having "That Guy" at either position but you can get by without him if the blocking or coverage is good enough. I don't you can win consistently without a standout QB or pass rusher.
We spent the #2 pick on a left tackle and gave up 71 sacks a year later.

Don't force a pick.

Or free Firehouse Subs.

Reports are out there, you will have to find them yourself, that both the eagles and brownies are looking to move up to get Mariota. If the bucs take JW and the titans go defensive end  then the # 3 pick for someone looking to get Mariota is a prime spot to trade.

Exactly got to love getting free subs Smile

I haven't really seen any reports of this, but I sure do hope it is true.

I've seen those reports, and I think they are speculative at best.

It doesn't serve either team's best interest to disclose interest in Mariota at this stage, because

a)  If the interest is legitimate, all it would do is make it harder for them to trade up because other teams will know they have to outbid them; or

b)  teams may think it is a smokescreen.

I've heard rumors, but the Browns at 12, and especially the Eagles at 20 are going to have to give up a pretty good ransom to move up to #3.  I don't see it happening.

Agreed.  Anything coming out of the rumor mill in the NFL this time of year can usually be taken with a grain of salt.  You won't know truly where their interests lie until draft day when the phones start ringing.
I think most people are gun shy about the Scherff pick because Joeckel has been such a disaster thus far. Unfortunately, until he proves to not be a bust, this offensive line is significantly set back from being able to protect Bortles adequately.
