Quote:Would anybody be for signing Greg Hardy? He's on the commissioners exempt list, but he would be an absolute monster lined up next to Marks and maybe Leonard Williams. Just need to wait and see what happens to him.

No.
Of that list?

Zero.

Zero.
lol so the team with the most cap room doesn't sign a top 25 FA?

What makes that so unlikely?

Of those 25 some will return to their old team.  Others will seek out competitors.  Some won't be worth the contract they seek, and the remainder the Jags will have to contend for with the other teams in the league.

Signature bet.

I bet one of those top 25 players ends up on the Jags.

I think its very unlikely that the Jags don't sign one of those players.
An x factor is how many quality players are going to get released because of their contract situation.   Headed by the possibility that Patriots CB Darrelle Revis will be on the open market.

I voted for one player from the list landing in Jax.  Though, I believe two is a remote possibility.

I think the Jags may very well attempt to sign JPP or Jerry Hughes if they are available.

I also think that Jordan Cameron is another player that the Jags may pursue.

I think JPP will certainly be on their radar.  If he makes it to free agency and isn't tagged, I could see him being a first day acquisition. Caldwell confirmed in an interview this week that they expect to make at least one move almost immediately, so they've got their eyes on someone.  He's looking to get paid.  This team has the money.

It sounds like Cameron wants to get out of Cleveland badly.  The Jags could probably land him with a reasonable deal.

I don't think Hughes makes it to free agency.  Buffalo has been trying to negotiate a new deal for a few weeks now.  If he isn't able to craft a deal and winds up testing the market, I could see him being a target.  The guy has had 20 sacks over the last 2 years.  Who wouldn't want that?

If the team were to get 2 of those guys, and possibly land a veteran Safety in the process? Wow.

I'm not totally sure the Bills will resign Hughes unless the price is right. He made a comment recently that he's never heard of a hometown discount, so it's pretty clear he's looking to get his payday. The numbers I read are $7-8 million per year with at least $12-15 million guaranteed. If that's the case, then I think he'll hit FA as Marcell Dareus (FA next year) is a bigger priority for us.

You have to be careful with a guy like Hughes because he plays on a stacked D-Line with Dareus, Mario Williams, and Kyle Williams and the opposing offenses tend to concentrate on them more. I don't think he'll be nearly as productive on other D-Lines that lack that kind of talent.
I read something about the Giants can't afford to put the franchise tag on JPP. Go get him Caldwell!

Here is the story on Green Bay's pending free agents: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...ay-packers

In addition to Randall Cobb, Bryan Bulaga, and Tramon Williams needing new contracts, paying all of them will require restructuring another one and cutting somebody else. Can you imagine getting Julius Peppers?

The Giants have realistic options to clear $ 10 million salary cap space.   JPP will much more likely than not be tagged,  if necessary.

Even with JPP,   the Giants need to address their DE situation in a meaningful way.   With so much riding on the 2015 season from the standpoints of Co-Owner John Mara,  GM Jerry Reese,  and HC Tom Coughlin,  I expect JPP to be wearing Giant Blue this coming season.
