A lot of talk has been made about a possible trade down and getting the kings ransom of picks back... because we simply need it, but I want to play Devils Advocate for a second, outta curiosity what do you think it costs the Jaguars to TRADE UP in the draft either to pick 1st or 2nd - be realistic
I am not by anyway saying they should or shouldn't do this, just a opinion piece more than anything else

if there was a player we believed would be a franchise-changer, a la Andrew Luck, and the teams picking 1 and 2 already had their QB's of the future ( unlikely, if they're picking 1 or 2 ), and the player that one of these two teams coveted would still be available at #3, then I believe they would swap picks if we gave up a later-round pick.
Chances of all this happening? Zero.
Well last year Caldwell said he believed the cost to move up from 3 to 2 would be a 3rd or a 4th round pick.
In 2012 Minnesota traded the 3rd pick to Cleveland for the 4th pick, plus an extra 4th, 5th and 7th.
Regardless I think it's safe to say a trade up from 3 would be unexpected.
I wouldn't do it. I think Williams will fall in our laps at 3. Everyone "supposedly" wants Mariota or Winston at 1/2. I would trade down with a team if those 2 happen to fall to us, if they were in desperate need of a QB. If no trade partners, Leonard Williams would make our Dline ferocious.

Tenn scares me at 2.
I can't fathom a situation we would trade up?
Not to #1 or #2, but I could see us trading up into the tail end of the first round if somebody falls. Especially if we trade back with our #3 pick and have the extra picks to burn.
This team can't afford to trade up. Too many holes.
Trading up is something only Gene Smith would be thinking about right now.
Caldwell traded up just last year for Linder. Now if you meant trading up in the first round . . . not even Gene would be thinking about that considering this group of prospects and our draft position.

As far as trading up to #2. I can possibly see this happening assuming Tenessee is taking a quarterback, and the Raiders want to trade up to #2 to jump the Jaguars from selecting a certain player. The highest pick I see giving up is a 4th, but there may be other picks involved or maybe future picks.
As for trading up to #1. This would likely mean the quarterbacks aren't valued as top picks and Tampa Bay wants to acquire more picks and thinks they can land a quarterback later. Once again, I'd say it's the same situation, 4th being the highest, maybe a 3rd if this player is seen as a game changer.

i could see trading up from where we are at in the second, not in the first though.
it would probably take a lot to trade up in round 1 because those 2 teams are going to really want that qb or a lot in return.

Trading up to 2 isn't a big deal because Tennessee would just swap picks and still pick the QB at 3 instead of 2. But it would be hilarious if Jaguars swapped picks with Tennessee only to trade down with another team who selects the QB Tennessee wanted.
I think the titans might take Williams and if that is our target we would in this case try to trade to first(I doubt that happens nor really want it to) but because it is such a small jump id still believe it would only be a late rounder(4th probably at best) to move up.
Again I doubt we do nor do I really want us to.
Why would a division rival want to trade with us? And why would we want to give up what the Buccaneers are going to demand? Nothing would be stupider than trading up for the first or second pick.

We wont trade with the titans at all(nor the bucs either buuut for this post...) I really dont believe the bucs would end up asking much to move down to the third. Given if Philly or someone does really want to make a huge move then the asking price would be insane.

The Jags aren't trading up in the first round.
The odds of the Jaguars trading up in the first round are about as good as the odds of a JDR/Musgrave/Smitty reunion...in Jacksonville.
