Quote:You can't read lady. They get almost double than the next highest state. They get more than the bottom 20 or so states combined. Normally I wouldn't say you can't be that stupid, but after reading a few of your posts, I can't bring myself to do it. You really are that dumb.
This is the Blake 2015 overall vs rate stats debate. When you can, always use rate/per capita stats...much better picture.

The argument you want to make is that their unfunded liabilities are through the roof, or that they are held very tenuously intact by an inordinately small amount of incredibly wealthy taxpayers. A few of them decide to reside or move their business elsewhere and Cali could be in a serious lurch very quickly.

The are the largest state by population. No kidding they get the most. They also generate the most income from tax revenue of any state individual and corporate. They generate more than they receive. Read the whole report next time.

And stop calling me lady. It's offensive and I am sure against TOS.
California has been bankrupt for years, no way they could maintain their roads, education, emergency services and their infrastructure without the federal funds...Not to mention if somehow they did manage to get out of the US, the government would take all their military ships, planes soldiers sailors airmen and bases out of california which would cripple the already bad economy not to mention no more federal employees...it just couldn't work

Evidence? Because that's false.

And frankly the USA isn't letting California leave. Hate the state but it's very vital to US economy.
And right about the time they have all the petitions and referendums and court challenges finished and they are finally free, a Dem will win the White House and the Calidiots will start to reverse the process.  They will always be 4 or 8 years behind, leaving the Union during Democrat presidencies and rejoining the union just as another Trump is elected.  What year is Barron eligible?

California is heavily in debt...they claim a surplus but so did some outgoing POTUS  when there was a bazillion dollar debt...A 5 second web search shows you that... If states were allowed to file bankruptcy they would have

They will never be allowed to leave

California isn't bankrupt or broke. Since 08-09 it has gotten a lot better but it does have some issues too.

The $366 Billion in unfunded liabilities consisting of future healthcare and pension costs is troubling but hardly unique to california.

So Bankrupt, no... just dandy---nope, the truth is more complex than that.

they are not bankrupt because states can't file for bankruptcy, but they can certainly meet the criteria for being bankrupt if it were not a state...all states run in the red but california was horrible for a long time

There is an ebb and flow to these things. When the economy is roaring and growing states tend to do pretty well on taxes. They overextend themselves sometimes though and when things take a downturn they have trouble with the austerity side of things.

there have been at least 4 cities in ca who declared bankruptcy and california itself would have too if states were allowed to do so...jerry brown is doing a great job but Ca. still has financial woes

Flowers in her hairrrrrr-air-air-air.

Then do your 5 seconds and post objective evidence. Much evidence to the contrary of your assertion.

It's a little pointless to respond at this point. You just keep saying basically the same thing with no backup. I addressed and even gave a citation about the unfunded liabilities. This is just fruitless at this point.
Quote:Ancestors fought a war to salvage the country now you want to kick out 1.5 in GSP?

I'm not wanting to kick anybody out. They are the ones wanting to secede. The fact that Americans want to secede because their candidate didn't win the election makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. "Divided we fall."

And those wealthy taxpayers and businesses will no doubt move out of Cali once they realize they'll be taxed 90% of their income to fund all of their socialist programs.

Looks like he was correct...San Bernardino, Vallejo, Stockton, and Mammoth Lakes all filed for bankruptcy between 2008-2012.

As far as unfunded liabilities are concerned, you can't ignore such a high number of unfunded. In addition, debt actually does exist in the form of infrastructure bonds to name one of the many.

Mammoth Lake was dismissed. Municipal bankruptcies happen a lot, 51 since 2010 in fact but nobody is throwing bricks at Arkansas for it. \

Nobody is ignoring unfunded liabilities, that's why I addressed it.

Quote:They're bankrupt. The Fed has been paying off their deficit for years.

As is the whole country? lol
I support any state that wishes to leave the union peacefully and pursue their own interest. I don't necessarily think it's a good idea but I support their right to do so.

I didn't see where Arkansas was trying to become its own country (some would argue it is already). I also disn't see where anyone claimed their finances aren't as bad as they seem or claim they weren't in a financial crisis with a growing deficit, but feel free to redirect from the topic of California's finances.
