I hope this hire hastens the development of Joeckel. The poor kid didn't have Yarno for most of his career. He really needs a guy like Marrone.
Just want to post this to set the record straight, not everyone in Bills country was happy about Marrone leaving, He choose his path, and local media and disgruntled fans went off on him and still do, I for one to date have not read or have heard Marrone comment on reasons for leaving, top that off with all the unnamed sources saying he bad mouthed team on the way out, paints only one side of the story, I think he did the best with what he had, and wish him well in his new job with the Jags, and they were not to kind on comments on Jacksonville Teams officials for hiring Marrone either, me I think a lot of this is plan sour grapes, from the media, who Marrone didn't get along with

Someone needs to mix up the o line. Marrone has something to prove, lets see what he can do. The guy got 9 wins with Orton & Manuel lol.

I was looking for the "wake me when we have better players" option.
Quote:Here is the thing with Greg Olsen of the Raiders,

Nobody on this staff thought that highly of Derek Carr and Greg Olsen of the Raiders made Carr look pretty good.

So the thinking is if Blake Bortles has more of a ceiling than Derek Carr then perhaps Greg Olsen can help Blake improve as a QB.

Gus KNOWS DEFENSE, and maybe a little about BBQ, but he does not KNOW SQUAT about what makes an Offense become elite.

When I was young, I was a Dolphins fan and the Dolphins had Don Shula. Shula knew Offense, but next to nothing about Defense.

The Dolphins went to back to back to back Super Bowls when Shula teamed up with Bill Arnsparger and I think that is what Gus Bradley is trying to do with the Jags offense, that is find the guy that knows Offense like he knows Defense. Together, they will make that unbeatable team.

Just for the sake of accuracy I'd like to point out that Carr was our staff's second rated QB last year.

Do you have a source for that? Not being a [BLEEP], genuinely wondering, as I hadn't heard that before.

I can't find the source but I assure you it's the truth. I read it, it had something to do with the senior bowl. I remember I was really excited because I was high on Carr from scouting him. Sorry I have nothing more concrete.
Two scoops for Gus, man! The offensive staff got better man so all we have to do now is compete.

Where did you hear this? A lot of people did take Marrone leaving hard, a lot, like myself, probably the majority, were fine with it. I never heard anyone speak ill towards the Jags organization for making the hire. They got a former HC as an Oline coach... When you look at it at face value, great hire for the jags. Nobody up here said anything towards the Jags for the hire, whether it was the Buffalo News, DnC, or WGR.

No worries, thanks for looking. It's an interesting bit of information, especially given the OC hire.
I like it personally, given the options id say we made a good hire.

I like the Assistant Head Coach option too, think itll be a good support guy for Gus to lean on

Agreed.  OP should be embarrassed.

They (Caldwell,Bradley) spoke very highly of Carr and Garrapolo after the senior bowl last year.

I like that one too!
This guy is like the captain who abandons his crew while his ship is sinking.  Don't trust him

No worries, our ship sank long ago. Maybe this guy is a salvage expert.
Jag fans, do your homework, check out two bills drive web site, and you will find CT9, may be speaking with a forked tongue, you decide

Quote:Our OL did regress. It's hard to say whether it's mostly Marrone or the lack of talent on our OL.

PFF thinks we regressed also:

Marrone was the head coach in Buffalo. He had a lot more responsibilities than the OL. I'd weigh his record as an OL coach much higher than his record as a head coach for this position on the Jags.

The Oline was one of the biggest concerns for the Jaguars and bringing in a former HC to be the OLine coach is a great move by Dave Caldwell...

the other huge problem was DBs... waiting to see what happens there...
