Quote:Probably not.

Chances are Tom Brady will play at least one more season,  with the goal of being the first starting QB to win 5 Super Bowls.

There was a backup who won five Super Bowls?

With the state of the AFC, the Patriots will continue to be the favorites until Brady/Belichick retire. The NFC is much stronger. Would think Brady would want to go out on top, but his competitive nature is undying.

I'm not aware of that player.

However,  there was a backup QB who not only was on 5 Super Bowl teams,  it was in 5 straight seasons.   I'm referring to Gale Gilbert.   Unfortunately for Gilbert,  all 5 teams lost the Super Bowl.

Brett Favre did not want to go out on top either. A lot of guys don't. As long as Brady is having fun, why should he stop playing?

I am sick and tired of the Patriots owning the AFC because of those two men. During Super Bowls 42 and 46, I rooted against them. I will root against them again on February 1.

I think Tom Brady's competitive nature is the overriding factor.   The way Brady has played since October,  coupled with what you mentioned regarding the current comparison of the two Conferences,  leads me to believe that Brady will continue to seek at least one more Super Bowl Title beyond this season.
Good news for Richard Sherman: it is just a sprained elbow and he should be able to play.

The NFL.com poll currently has the Patriots winning 51 percent to 49 percent. Of course not all votes are from different people, but it is interesting to see the Seahawks suddenly catching up.

In this thread the Patriots are winning 10-8, but only four people are rooting for them.

Almost every time in the big game,, the team with the Super-strong defense (particularly pass rush) trumps the team with the Superstar QB. We've seen it over and over.

I'm worried about our pass rush. We didn't pressure injured Aaron Rodgers enough and he's used to keep the ball in his hands much longer than Tom Brady. Injuries on the D-Line are starting to show up (Brandon Mebane and Jordan Hill, who played really good before his injury). If we want to win, we need to be in Brady's face from first to last minute of the game. If he has time in the pocket, he and Gronk will kill us.
Some of the match ups are going to be very interesting.

I wonder will Seattle's defense play it conservative with limited safety blitzes knowing Sherman and Thomas are banged up?

I think they will bring more pressure to the left side, and throw some looks at Solder, which I find curious because he was used as an eligible receiver in the TD he caught.

I think the Pats using those uncommon formations will be used to slow Seattle down.
Gronkowski better get used to Kam Chancellor launching himself at him for the better part of the First Quarter.

At least, that's what I think some fans would say. Me personally, I'm not at all sure as to who will have responsibility for Gronkowski.

Not rooting for either side but i feel the Pats might find a way.

The hawks D is amazing but the pats have found a way to run the ball and their new formations i believe are going to be key against seattle. I believe the pats D will sell out up front to stop marshawn and their secondary is talented and veteran enough to handle a lackluster seahawks WR corps.

Also i can almost assure you Kam will be all over Gronk the entire game. Brady better be careful with that seam route or Gronk may not be walking off the field inder his own power.

Well then Gale Gilbert, whoever he is, had to be the guy who gave his team the bad foo foo.

More like better part of the game. Against the Panthers, Kam Chancellor showed he never quits. Because Earl Thomas is hurt, my guess is Kam will go against Rob Gronkowski.
This storyline could have been expected: Pete Carroll talked about coaching against his former team.

Bucky Brooks offers five ways the Seahawks can beat the Patriots:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...e-patriots

1. Make the zone-read the focal point of the offensive game plan.

2. Play a clean game on both sides of the ball (no penalties).

3. Challenge New England's receivers with bump-and-run coverage.

4. Stop LeGarrette Blount with loaded boxes.

5. Be aware of quirky formations and exotic alignments.

So these are the ways to beat the Pats.

Why don't more teams use them then, although the "no penalties" one is highly unlikely. Seattle will push the penalty boundaries on defense until they finally get called for one.

Sure has the potential to be a great Super bowl.

It probably will be better than the last one because Tom Brady is not a choker in the playoffs. I also am looking forward to a more elaborate halftime show if it's supposed to be anything like Super Bowl 34.
