Maybe that is kind of like Kubiak's "dream job?" He gets to Coach the team he played with for a long time, under Elway as his backup. Personally, Kubiak is probably a Bronco at heart just like Elway.

Why is it surprising? Gary Kubiak was John Elway's backup for nine years, then his offensive coordinator when he won two Super Bowls. He was the favorite all last week to get the job.

 

What surprises me is Elway did not wait for a decision from Peyton Manning, who reportedly is a bad fit for Kubiak's run-heavy West Coast offense.

I agree. When a college in Colorado named Kubiak as a head coach candidate years ago, he declined to stay in Denver. That is what I call team loyalty.

is health a concern for kubiak? i mean he did have that episode in Houston and being in up in Denver with the light air, the stresses of a HC can effect your heart. Honest concern

He had a meeting with John Harbaugh about taking the job. I think if there was any concern about his health being adversely affected, it was probably discussed.

 

I don't know why thin air in Denver would increase his risk of a stroke. People at sea level can get blockages in their brains.
