very odd. resigning, not retiring. must have been some differences of opinion on that team.
This is pretty huge news, I wonder who he is planning to play with if hes not retiring?

Considering that he's pushing 80, the only team he'll be playing for is the Shady Acres Golf Carts.

he specifically said he is resigning, not retiring.

And scooby specifically asked who LeBeau was planning to play for.

Now you've gone and ruined it. If you have to explain it, it's not funny, right?

According to NFL.com, he plans to work somewhere else next season.

Quote:"I'm resigning this position, not retiring," LeBeau, 77, told the Urbana Daily Citizen. "I had a great run in Pittsburgh. I'm grateful for all the things that have happened to me and thankful for all the support I had in Pittsburgh."
Arizona maybe if their DC leaves. He and Arians worked together for several years. Plus lots of people in their 70's in Arizona.

I have seen some "requested permission to interview" and "scheduled an interview" reports, but nothing about Todd Bowles being a team's favorite candidate.

Dan Quinn is another defensive coordinator who may get a head coach job somewhere, but teams have to wait for Seattle to lose. If Carolina pulls off an upset the Seahawks will probably call Dick LeBeau first.
Fire Babich.
Lebeau leaving makes me wonder how hot Mike Tomlin's seat may be feeling now...

Insider scoop......he got tired of Troy P doing his patented "try to time the snap and jump over the center" move at least once a game without being told to do so and going into the season with -80 yards in penalties before the season even starts.......then decided to quit.
Dick LeBeau is already in the HOF as a CB.   If anyone deserves to be in the HOF just for his Assistant Coach efforts,  LeBeau would be at the top of the list.  LeBeau has been a tremendous innovator and strategist.   The players he coached in Pttsburgh collectively have had high praise for him over the years.

I hope LeBeau gets another opportunity to be a Defensive Coordinator or at least play a major role on a coaching staff.

Don't see that happening. No disrespect to Dick Lebeau, but he's already 77, not a scheme fit and he doesn't have any connections to Pete Carroll.

If Dan Quinn leaves (and I think he will; the Jets are reportedly willing to wait for him even if we go to the Super Bowl), we will just promote some of our young up and coming coaches (Kris Richard or Rocky Seto are probably the favourites) to DC.

Should it be feeling hot? He has a super bowl and a few playoff wins under his belt.

Very weird, says resigned not retired or fired... very good coach suprised no HC offers from any teams...

1. He was the head coach of the Bengals. He was terrible.

2. He's 77.
Looks like he might go to Ari.
I we hire Vermeil as the OC to implement the Fastest Show on Turf then hire Labeau as the DC.   We'd have like 86 years of experience in the coordinator position alone.
