Quote:And you said yourself he played OK this year.

Why cut a player that played OK?
True he did play ok under Gus. I just feel we can get the same production from a rookie instead of a 5 yr guy like alualu. Lol is it 5 years?
Quote:That's not a smart business move. It's not even a smart move if you were looking for another job. Just quit and see what MIGHT be available...
If you dont do your job you get fired! Thats business right?

many of the guys you've listed are doing their jobs so it makes little sense to cut them until you find better.
Quote:poz is better than you think
. He had some rough games but I think he still has gas left. Tyson Alualu is a good role player (Needs a paycut tho) and worthy of a roster spot. Gerhart dealt with a ton of issues that held him back.

I agree with you on Henne, Lewis, and Shorts. Lewis and Henne have one year left on their contracts. Lewis for sure needs to be replaced. Henne is still better than alot of backups in this league.

no he's not
Keep Henne, you're not going to find a better backup this year in free agency

The only player I don't agree with the OP on is Alualu.  He's played pretty well this season.  His position isn't about getting sacks.  He does what Red Bryant does and I don't see Red lighting up the sack stat sheet either.  Granted he doesn't do it as well as Red does, but he's not bad.  Caldwell already said he'd like to resign Alualu this offseason.

Quote:Just because he says he wants to keep him dont means its the right decision. In my opinion Alualu had a ok year. But before that he hasnt done ish. Especially seeing how high he was drafted!
You do realize we have two hurt starting tackles going into next year? Alualu not only is a solid back up and fits the rotation,  he can also play both end and tackle. no reason to get rid of him if he wants to stay, and by all accounts it is his choice to stay or go.
Quote:no he's not
look to see how good we were against the run with poz in and after he left you might be suprised. Poz led the team in tackles last year he is a LB. This year it was a saftey who led the team in tackles. I think we want our lbs making the majority of the tackles and not our saftiys.

What is the rush to get rid of Henne? He's a backup, he's under contract, and won't even play unless Bortles goes down with an injury.

If BB5 goes down and henne is the back up the season is over. If we have a competent Backup who could actually play we dont have to give up on the season. Thats why ppl want henne gone.

Exactly.  I understand everyone else, but this doesn't make sense, UNLESS you find someone better.  Which is whom!?

Just a thought here...

saying you 'want' to keep someone isn't the same thing as saying you 'will' keep someone. I may 'want' to keep my beat up, rusted out, heavily smoking 1981 Chevy pickup... however, I need/require something that will 'reliably' get me to work with my tools. No one 'hates' Poz, he's been an asset for this team; however, time marches on and Poz isn't quite the same guy he used to be. That's just a reality that all football players (actually, all of us) have to face eventually. It doesn't mean that he's being rushed to the junk yard (unlike my truck...) but his value to the team isn't as high any more.

Who is coming to FA this year better than Henne.  I'm not being cynical, I want to know because I don't.

Tell me a team that ISN'T in trouble if their starter goes down.

Arizona comes to mind immediately...that sucks.

Well that certainly didn't have much to do with the quality of their backups.

It seems arizona did quite well when thier starter went down, even when the back up went down they did good, want untill they were playing a guy off someone elses practice squad that they looked bad
