Apparently the defense is following the same progression as your brain matter. 

 

If you didn't see significant improvement in the overall defense of this team when you watched them on the field, you're either blind, or just severely mentally challenged.  Which is it? 

 

I guess there's a 3rd option.  You haven't seen a game and you rely solely upon stats to formulate your opinions, in which case, you're still clueless.

The defense for most of the games was pretty good in first half but exhausted in 2nd half. Once the offense can put together drives and give them a rest I think they will be be respectable

Defense on the field 10% longer than an average team. Pretty significant disadvantage when you are trying to prevent points/ yards.


Edit: yards per game for jags D: 370.8

Adjust by -10%= 333.8

That would move use to 8th in that category.

As you point out, yards per game fails to take into account the amount of time the defense is on the field. Yards per play is a better way to judge the defense. The Jags were 20th in yards per play. Not great, but not terrible.

The defense was part of a 3-13 team is all that matters. They all sucked.

You are correct this is a better stat. I would imagine they were near the bottom to start the season and above average toward the end of the year.
