If you are the GM of the Bucs, and you know you want to take a QB, who's your guy?
I may be biased, but I would take Winston. Compared to Mariota, he makes more 'NFL' throws, while having to go through NFL-like progressions. Don't get me wrong, I think Mariota is flat-out electric, and has all the tools to be an elite player, but Winston's game, at this point, translates more clearly to the NFL.
I think Winston is the better passer but it comes down to how you can want to run your offense.
Oregon's gimmick doesnt work in the NFL.
After watching last night, I don't believe either are NFL quarterbacks.
Jameis Winston consistently has awful first halfs and did not impress me that much. And before anyone say's just how good he is in the second half, may I remind that Tim Tebow also looked good in the 4th quarter.
Mariota leaves the pocket so quickly he has alot more time to run around in the backfield than he he will in the NFL. He has some good throws but I also saw alot which where consistently over the receiver and they had to jump and catch them.
I could potentially see the Titans not taking one and going for Hackenberg next year if he comes out.
If I had to choose one though it would probably be Winston.
If Winston had his head on straight he'd be my pick.
Right now Mariota is the pick between the two because he looks like he won't implode at the next level.
Winston struggles with pressure, while Mariota looked very comfortable even against the pass rush and consistently made good throws. (Save for the pick and the near-pick by Ramsey). My pick: Mariota.
I'd really want neither, so glad we got our QB last year. I really hope the Titans take one of these guys and leaves Williams for us.
Neither.
Winston = Leftwich
Mariota = Kaepernick.
I'm hoping they go 1-2 so the Jags can get Leonard Williams.

lol @ the Mariota comparison

That's actually not a terrible comparison.
I think Jameis has a shot to be good, but it would be a chance I wouldn't take for my team
How does Winston = Leftwich? Lol...Winston can actually move...

I agree with this. I want Williams over everyone with the 3rd pick. I think you are right about Mariota. He's going to look like Cam Newton and Kaepernick their first 2 seasons, and then he will be exposed for how 1 dimensional he is, and defenses will shut him down, like they have to Cam/Kaep this year. As far as Winston, I don't know, but he's probably going to be suspended

You had to see what scouts love about Mariota though. The physical ability is there. Just straight up comparison:
While Bortles' offense isn't as gimmicky as Oregon's, its not like Blake was running a pro-style offense in college.
Mechanically and fundamentally, Mariota is more sound throwing the football than Blake.
Mariota isn't as big as Blake, but he's faster and more athletic.
Both require a year of sitting and learning, ideally.
Bortles went #3 in a draft that is viewed to be stronger than this year's.
I think Mariota still goes top 3 after workouts, interviews (seems like a likeable guy), and combine.

I did see some it it, but generally players who rely on their athletism come to the nfl and find they're not that more athletic than the other players and it doesn't work out.
An example I saw in the game yesterday was on 3rd and 6 mariota decided to run to the outside even though there was 2 defenders out there and even once he saw them he didn't run back to avoid them and go for a pass he tried to skip past them.
He has itchy feet and I didn't see much of him actually improvising that much he seemed very predetermined before the snap what he was going to do, even when he left the pocket most of the time he did it within a couple of seconds which suggests it was his plan.

Nah, they've already figured out duel threat QBs. He'll either conform or bust quickly.
Mariotta, but in the right system.

Defenses have figured out running QBs who don't read the defense well and can't throw the ball consistently.
Ask Arizona's tough Defense how difficult it is to contain a QB who can run, throw, and is playing in an offense that is tailored around his strengths.
And Wilson doesn't even have what we'd consider a good WR core (including TEs) at his disposal.
Mariotta bust. Comes from a college spread offense. Winston, long throwing motion, one read throw the ball - no progressions. Bust.
