Kirk Cousins has one more season to go on his rookie contract.
In the meanwhile, what kind of leverage does Cousins think he actually has? Being the 3rd QB on the totem pole on a 4-12 team isn't exactly a position in which your skills will be in great demand.

Cousins stinks. Unless he plays us 16 times a year, he is destined to be a career backup.
If Mike or Kyle Shanahan end up running a team, they might give the Redskins a ham sandwich and a shiny turd for him.

Well that's exactly what the Redskins did when they drafted RG3, RG3 in the first then Cousins in the 3rd. (they had traded their 2nd as part of the RG3 trade)
