Quote:Is ESPN a valid enough source?

Of course it is. But why would ESPN report it and not NFL.com?
Quote:I get all information from NFL.com, not Twitter. And even JLC has not mentioned this on that website.

Twitter will be getting plenty of hits in the playoffs and off-season.  Between the national NFL sports media,  local NFL sports media,  agents,  and college football media,  Twitter seems like a must to get breaking NFL news.
Quote:All the playmakers? We talking about the "no name Jags defense", right? Other than Rashean, that entire defense was a bunch of hard-nosed guys who just plays hard. He got a lot out of that defense.

Quote:I wouldn't call him a playmaker (which I reserve to like...Ray Lewis, Julian Peterson in his prime, etc). Same with Mike Pete (though he's a bit better than Daryl against the pass). The rest of that defense (in some variations) were Spicer, Rob Meier, Sammy Knight, Reggie Nelson, Brian Williams, etc..

I can't disagree if we use your definition of a playmaker, but a playmaker doesn't have to be a HoF caliber as you described.

Peterson, Henderson, Stroud, Mathis, and Smith had very good careers. They were Pro-Bowl caliber players. How many defense have that many on one defense?

Darius and Deon Grant were solid safeties. We haven't had safeties of their quality since, and Darius added a certain presence that few players are capable of providing in a secondary.

Even players like Hayward, Spicer, and McCray threw up some decent seasons. They're nothing special but when they're used in addition to the previously named (and better players), there's no reason he should have middle-of-the-pack defenses with late-game collapses.
Quote:Darius was no longer here.

Darius was here until 2007. He spent several seasons in Smith's defense.

Who cares?

It's out there from multiple sources.  It's okay to move on.  Maybe even expand your horizons a bit.
