Quote:I dont know why you guys hate BCC so much when this board is equally as bad.
For me personally, I'll tell you why and it goes back several years.
Several years ago there was a group of fans that was getting together to form a kind of organized club. It was lead by a guy named Rob who formed "jagnation.com". We did a few activities and "meet ups" with other Jaguars fans as well as did stuff during training camp and game days (anyone remember the teal mohawks?).
Part of the initial website included a podcast that had Rob, Alfie and a guy named Charlie as the hosts. I used to record it, edit it and publish the final recordings onto the website. During the recordings I could listen to everything that they were saying when they were "on the air", and I was recording the whole time. During one of the "breaks" in between segments, I heard them talking about their very members in a very bad way. They were mocking people's appearances, sexual orientation and making fun of one particular member that was handicapped. I didn't think that was very cool and when I brought it up, I was "fired" from my voluntary "job".
Needless to say, jagnation.com eventually folded up and for a while, the domain redirected to BCC. Guess who runs BCC? Alfie who is one of the ones mocking fans because of their appearance and/or sexual orientation or disability.
That's the truth and the reason why I will not go to BCC. If I really cared, one day I might dig out the old recordings and make it public. The only reason I won't now is because it does name certain active posters on this board, and the comments said from them are truly hateful and disrespectful. jagnation.com has gone away and I'm pretty sure that BCC won't be around very long.
The site isn't that bad at all, it's just that fatty mcbutterpants and his bearded minions are too much for me to suffer through, therefore I don't even go there anymore. Blackandteal is better than them.
"fan article" and BCC go hand in hand
More blog etc. than investigative/inspired journalism.

Wow. I knew something was up with alfie, but I didn't think it was anything like this. This confirms it for me: Alfie Crow is grade A piece of garbage.

It should say something also when the name of the website is in the filter on this board. In my opinion, links or stories to BCC should be filtered and banned as well. From the few times that I've actually gone there, it's mostly just opinion backed up by twitter feeds.
I challenge Alfie and/or his acolytes to dispute my account of what went on. I just dug out some of the old recordings and it won't take long to find the segment in question that I referenced.
Who cares Dan Skuta freakin sucks cut em anyway.

I can't quite remember who it is but yes. Not sure if they still post here now though.
Some people here contribute there as well.
Big Fat Country is a joke.

You could always beep out the names
Just went to the Black and Teal site. I like it, thanks for mentioning that site.

Black and Teal >>>>>>>> BCC.
It's gotten much better the past year or so and keeps improving. BCC will be long forgotten in no time.

Not really, because it's a SBNation site.
I would like to see Alfie's response to jagiblieve's claims. That kind of stuff could keep him from furthering his career as a writer, not that anyone was too concerned with the possibility to begin with.

The only site I recall these guys running before BCC was SBnation I think it was? I joined but I wasn't very active at all. I really only joined because Dav converted to that site and I liked Dav a lot, but couldn't handle Charlies ego. He since made a bit of a name for himself in the Miami market, I think it is.
This is interesting to say the least, especially because they belittle anyone who makes homophobic remarks on twitter on a regular basis. Very interesting.

The thing that has always gotten to me about that site and their following is that they just seem ... "unprofessional". I can get banter and trash talk while at a sports bar and there's already enough of it on the web. Can someone just act like a damn grown up when it comes to sports?!?!

I do follow most of them on twitter. I don't like bullies and that's what a lot of them are. They'll gang up on someone just for asking a question that disagrees with their "group think". It's not a welcoming environment at all. They're the male or sports equivelient of "Mean Girls".
Their fan group Bold CIty Brigade, albeit a good thing for the Jaguars, is mostly made up of
these individuals so it's difficult to become a new member and feel invited to their events. I paid for the membership the first couple of years and went to a gathering once, but there was no banter ouside of those who knew each other. Shame, because it could be a welcoming group and grow even larger than it currently is, but I guess they like it that way.
Three reasons why I don't visit BCC:
1) The writing is awful (maybe it's the editor in me).
2) The lack of proper citations/credit
3) The writing is awful
