I see some new and some that were promoted. If the 2014 draft players continue playing well and they keep drafting that good, They might all get promoted again
Quote:Also don't forget that in 2013 when Caldwell got hired he inherited Gene Smith's Scouting Department and let them go after the 2013 draft.

So this is the reason why the 2013 and 2014 draft classes were so "Jekyll and Hyde". And the way it looks so far I am very optimistic about this

up coming draft seeing how its going to be Caldwell's guys and not Smith's guys conducting the scouting reports.

*Go Jaguars!

Is this true? I remember having Gene Smith's scouts, but they dismissed them after the 2013 season?

Not all of them, but he did bring a few guys in. See my link above.

Yeah I saw the link, I just couldn't distinguish whether or not that they were new.
Thanks for the Help(link) Senor Fantastico! I had to go pick up my nephew from school so I couldn't post up a link.

Glad us fans got each others back!

Quote:I think Caldwell is the type of GM that will find talent irregardless of round. With that said the 2013 draft was terrible for everybody. To be honest looking back at that draft Cyp probably would be top 15-20 of all the guys in a redraft. This year however was so packed with more talent all around. Even if their is no true top 5 guys, some one still has to get  drafted in the top 5. Telvin fell because he failed a drug test like right before the draft.

But there are guys like him every year. Dennard who the pats got was a top 15 CB but had off the field issues and got him iirc in undrafted free agency. Same as A. Foster. He was a top 10 pick his self but his off the field stuff (mainly attitude) caused him to go undrafted. Caldwell just does his homework and has a good idea of what to do and when to do it. I remember people thought Linder was a reach and now looks like he should have been taken in the 20's in the first round.
Absolutely no one penned Foster as a top 10 pick. No one. Not even Foster's momma.

They say you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
Yeah, the 2014 draft right now looks great!

I'm in agreement about Cyp, next year is his make or break test.

Luke on the other hand, I'm holding out hope, but I'm not confident he's gonna be worthy of his draft position.

Shoelace is good. McCray is also gonna be a good starter for us as well.

The 2013 draft was pretty decent, it just doesn't shine as bright as what 2014 appears to be. But make no mistake, 2014 was pretty solid too
Quote:Don't assume Joeckel and Cyprien can't get it together. Labeling either as busts in only their 2nd (Joeckels 1st at LT) year is knee jerkish and foolish

Cyp has had two straight awesome games.

Both Cyp and Joeckel had very good games last night. Cyp, in particular, has put together a few good games in a row now.

Hopefully it carrries over for 1 more game and those 2 can end the season on a strong note.  We need them badly to develop if we want to break out next year.
Quote:Yeah I wouldn't give up on Joeckel and Cyp yet. Joeckel needs to an offseason in the weight room and put on 10 pounds or so and Cyp can't be judged fairly until we get a better FS. He's had back to back seasons of 100+ tackles so he's not bad obviously, he just doesn't make the type of impact plays you'd like as far as forced fumbles, interceptions, sacks, etc. Maybe that comes next  year.

My knock on CYPR37N is that the WHIFFS on Too Many tackles. He also take horrendous tackling angles that makes him WHIFF on Too Many tackles...

NH3...
Here's the problem...

Hene Smith's hands were tied by Mr. Weaver because the team was secretly placed on the market... i.e the pick of Alualu wasn't Gene's or his scout's choice at the selection. It was the safest pick which was demanded by Mr. Weaver prior to selling the Jaguars. Also FA spending was minimized to ensure that the new owner didn't encure such an "Pay Roll"...

I'm not sure I've seen a post that channeled one's inner TMD conspiracy theory so astutely

This is your brain on drugs.  Any questions?
Biggest reach of the draft = safest pick?  sure dude.

Not too mention in 2011 we went nuts in Free Agency and at one point had one of the highest payrolls in the league.

AHAHAHA really? AluAlu?  Dude...I know it's Friday, but put down the mind altering substances.

You're right more like second round but the idea is still the same.
