Shorts always seem to come up short

I got to give credit to lee.  He was a bum for most of this year.  He has looked much better the last several weeks.

Lee has been feisty the last two weeks.  Fighting for the ball, juking defenders.  It's really nice to see.  We are used to shorts not coming back to the ball or dropping the damn thing on 3rd down.  Lee is going to be the big man on campus next year.  Did anyone see him sprint up to Todman like 10 yards back to make that last block for him to score?  This is going to be Caldwell's best draft.

Quote:Who exactly was calling him a bust "a few weeks ago"? I'm pretty sure no one had mentioned bust and Lee in the same sentence since the pre-season... we all know who...

I think you are making up a straw man in order to make yourself look wise...

Most of the discussion of Lee as a bust took place during the preseason.  After that, there was infrequent discussion of him since Hurns and Robinson were both looking good and Lee wasn't seeing the field much.  When he *was* mentioned, some people rightfully expressed optimism, but others...well, the term "bust" wasn't always the exact word.  Sometimes it was terms like overrated or showing nothing, etc.  You can go back as many pages as you need to if you're interested in who expressed those opinions.
Quote:Drafting Amari Cooper and "non-sense" shouldn't be in the same sentence.  I'd still take him.  How did the Lions get Calvin Johnson?  They kept taking WR's.
Cooper is not Calvin Johnson. And the Lions didn't have a wide receiver worth a crap on their roster. We have three, maybe four. And how many playoff games has Johnson been in? Another wide

Maybe if Cooper is a once in a generation type talent like Calvin Johnson, it wouldn't be an issue. There are Amari Cooper types in every draft.

How dare u
Always will be an injury concern but besides that he's a player. Team needs a bad [BLEEP] tight end then the weapons for this team would be in place for Bortles to have no excuses.

Yes! A TE threat is so desperately needed! Julius Thomas would be awesome and a huge splash in free agency. Even if we signed a FA, I would also look into drafting one as well. Maybe that kid out of Miami..
A healthy Lee could be a star.
Quote:I don't think it's nonsense because he's a WR and the arrow is pointing straight up for us in that department, I think it's nonsense because there are better players that will likely be available at our pick. Cooper is good but he's not Calvin Johnson. And the Lions got him because they sucked and got lucky that Oakland took JaMarcus.

Well yeah, they do allow the other 31 teams a few draft picks too. You could use that logic on every good player taken ever.

Looks like weak draft for TE's so that will have to be addressed in free agency.

A healthy Lee and a sober Blackmon (3 Biletnikoff awards between the 2) could potentially out-do Thunder and Lightning. Throw in Allen Robinson, the sky is the limit.

31 other teams didn't have a shot at Calvin though.  He should have went #1 overall.  That wasn't really the overall point I was trying to make though.  Just saying taking Cooper wouldn't make sense and it's not the same situation at all as with Detroit.
Lee has been playing how I hoped he would at the start of the season. All of the rooks for that matter seem like they're starting to get it more and more.

With Blackmon back, and our curse of WR problems, I'd still rather keep Shorts over someone like Streeter. Problem is I doubt he signs cheap enough for that role.
Crazy that any of these guys between Blackmon, Lee, and Robinson could be our best receiver by the end of next year. Crazy considering Cecil was our number 1 heading into this season and Hurns leads our team in receptions, yards, and touchdown catches. Optimism is sickening sometimes though
I'm not sure why Hurns is always forgotten about.  He's probably been the best and most consistent WR we've had this entire season.

He's missed the least amount of games and has had important catches in each game he's played in.  Hurns also leads the team in TD catches and yards...  And only AR15 has more yards per game played.

Hurns is the man.  And he's durable.  Dude takes so many hard hits and has only missed one game.

Thursday he got hit in the head so hard his dang Jaguar on his helmet almost peeled completely off!  And he's still playing.

Hurns is the man.

Blackmon hasn't done jack squat for 2 years and we have people here all up in his jock strap.  It's sad.  Give me Hurns, AR-15, and Lee, and trade Blackmon out to the raiders for a 2nd round pick.

Hurns is a beast. The guy gets laid out every game and pops back up for more.

Totally!  Considering his draft position, he's probably had the best rookie year of the bunch, which is saying something because almost each of our rookies are doing pretty well.

On top of that, he has good hands.  I rarely see him drop a catchable ball.  He's really become one of my favorite Jaguars on the squad.
Shorts sucks. After his first year of playing a lot I was really high on him. But as the sample size got larger he showed what he really is. He will be gone this offseason. I dont see Dave even offering him a contract. Hes a WR 4 at best on most teams.

He's not a bad receiver when he's  healthy.  He's not a world-beater, but he's decent.  The problem is he can't seem to stay healthy.
